Mobile phone holder

I'll be taking delivery soon of my 718 cayman.

I currently use something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mpow-Magne...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=WQ70P75F7S3SFS1YRJV5 to hold my mobile phone on the air vent between the wheel and the window on my existing car.

I only use this so I can use waze as my sat nav as nothing else comes close to waze to circumvent London traffic. It's also great as it is so unobtrusive, there are no wires, suction cups, mounts to be drilled etc. It just attaches to the air vent by pushing it in and you can then just pull it out.

To get to the point, has anyone used anything like this on the 718? Because of variances in the size, shape etc of the air vents this magnetic disc thing doesn't work in all cars.

There was (at least one) very long thread on this topic with discussion about using the cupholder for phone placement, as well as links to the best uber-engineered mounts on the market. If you can find it.....else scan back through my post history as I posted a comment in that thread (quite a while back).

eta: here's one I was looking at recently https://www.cobbtuning.com/brands/scosche
The cup holder doesn't work as a phone holder because of the placement of the bottom support. The phone mount I use is on Porsche Accessories and Mods - Phone Mount, Sunglass Holster, Sport Button Mod. It wedges in between the screen and trim. It works great.
Thanks, I'll give it a go with the magnetic disc that I have already when I get the car. If it doesn't work then I'll have to look at one of these.

I'll try to hunt down the other thread too.

For anyone interested, my magnetic disc works absolutely perfectly. It fits the air vent so the phone is in perfect position and not obstructing anything. It fits securely (although probably best to avoid the track!).

No mounting kits or screws needed. A discrete way to hold the phone and just pops in or out of the vent. Very happy.

I didn't order nav or connect on my 718 (I'm a Samsung user, or I would of ordered connect), so I too am looking for a mount of some type. The magnetic vent mount looks good and seems functional (I'm an avid Amazon user and 4.5 stars out of 700 users seems like excellent reviews), but it won't work for my needs here in the Arizona desert. Last thing you want in an Arizona summer is something obstructing your vents, but I would imagine in most other places, this would be a smart fit. I'm looking at the one that attaches to the left or right of the center console area.

Yeah, I can imagine that the Arizona climate may not suit this option! I suppose that is one advantage of being in a more temperate climate, the obstruction of one vent is no issue for me.
I have a Lifeproof case on my iphone 8 and the size and surface friction is just right to fit on the cupholder. The phone does not shift or slip, and I can tighten the grip of the cupholder when necessary for more spirited driving.

@sevencyclist, I stand corrected the Porsche cupholders are, in fact, useful for something.

I will bet the Porsche engineers who designed the cupholders did not think of that use for them
