Is anyone opting for either deleting the model designation or just going with 718? I am asking because after I submitted the build my SA asked if that was an option I wanted. I noticed that some of the lot cars only had 718 as the model designation. Is Porsche doing this to try to emphasize the new model? I hadn't really thought about it--just planned to stay with the standard model designation. What are others doing? Thoughts?

I have the lava orange and had the 718 Boxster put in painted black and it really looks nice. As said above, a lot easier to clean. I also had 718 put on the doors in black. A lot of people have commented that they like that also. A possible reason for putting the 718 Boxster is that people that are not knowledgeable about Porsche Boxsters will not realize that it is the new model.

My car was a car off the lot and already had the "718 Cayman S" designation applied.

That's the way I would have ordered it if for no other reason than to make sure the 981 driver knew who just blew by. :D :) ;)

I would be going with the painted 718 as well for the same reason everyone else mentioned. Otherwise I would have to break out the hog hair brush to clean around the letters and get utterly bothered when wax gets built up in there and I have to struggle to get it out..

I have a night blue CGTS with PORSCHE in satin black and just 718, but I didn't spec my car. My next one will not have the model designation as it is a cleaner look and is easier to wash and dry as the drying towel will frequently get caught on the 718 numbers.

Apparently you can remove the badge pretty easily with a hair dryer and fishing line. Search the forums for people that have done it.

Bought my 718 used. The original owner ordered it with the badge delete. I contemplated adding it back but after a while decided I prefer it the way it is.

does anyone with "rear model designation painted" have any pics to share? On a red car would be a bonus!
Here's my Carmine Red with the painted model designation. It blends in so well you can hardly see it. 😀

Seriously, though, i can't personally see the value of paying $200+/- to make the model designation less visible, but still something to be careful when cleaning around (I snagged and broke two "S"s on my previous Carrera S). Rather, I prefer the clean look of the Cayman without the visual distraction of the model designation and side decals. But to each their own.

I think the Porsche model designations have gotten overly long so when I ordered my Cayman, I checked the box for model badge delete. Then, when my GTS arrived without the “718 Cayman GTS badge,“ I installed the “GTS” badge. I like the simpler, cleaner look.

Looks excellent - I'm considering the same for my CGTS (scheduled for May '23).
