I see more and more of them on the 718, You think there is any downforce added? I also noticed the GT4 front bumpers are being installed as well. Your thoughts?

The wings look great but they will make the car unstable at higher speeds so to offset that you absolutely need to do the front aero kit as well. Without the front aero kit at speeds of 100+ you will get some front end lift.

Looks like a Ticino plate on the car in the second image. I absolutely loved my time living there and the fabulous (and often very narrow) mountain roads all around.

You see more and more of them on Euro cars (and Asian cars, particularly in China, where the 718 is selling well) where such over-the-top decorative nonsense is considered a status symbol far more than it is in North America. For instance, in the first image, the car's also got rocker panels that end in tiny vertical winglets below the intakes. WTF?

Also, I'm going to assume that none of these are first-hand sightings and are captures from the internet. The marketing for this stuff online is omnipresent -- and the reality is the 'take rate' for these bolt-on baubles typically numbers in the single digits unless the company is well established. Even then, any proper Porschephile (IOW, someone who appreciates the car as a car, not the car as a status symbol) wouldn't be caught dead with a "GT4" wing on a non-GT4, just as any Bimmerphile wouldn't be caught dead in a car with ///M badging that wasn't an actual ///M car.

YMMV, but this stuff makes me shake my head. It's your car -- but this phenomenon is not a phenomenon -- and, as @Porsche2018 notes, these add-ons are often downright dangerous at speed.

I must confess I also want a winged mobile and I had the choice of purchasing a 2016 GT3 or a 2018 718, and ultimately went with the 718 because it has allot more low end torque and is much more fun to drive. So in my case the quality of the ride trumped my desire for a winged mobile. Fortunately, the 2018 991.2 GT3s were designed intentionally with more low end torque as per Andreas Preuninger...............plus I get my Poser wing;).

There isn't something in the lease agreement that says you can't modify the car? Or do you just have to be able to return it in the same spec as you picked it up?
Grey area, but in essence yes. It must be returned to stock. Unless you trade the car in before lease end, rather than meeting lease maturity. It's a loophole not many know about or utilize. Basically you sign up for minimum lease mileage and trade in before maturity.

Posers....if you want the look, get the real deal. I'm not a wing guy myself. I don't track my cars, so I wouldn't even want the real thing. I'm an old guy and my days of racing are well behind me.

I'm the type of guy that would get the GT3 Touring to get the wing removed. It's just not my style. If the next GT4 came with the Touring option (I doubt it will), that would be the one I'd want.

To me the wing has too much of the Japanese tuner style that someone bolted on to his/her 2003 Honda Civic from something they picked up a Pep Boys. And that's what I would think if I saw a 718 with a wing. Pep Boys special for $149.99 with coupon.

Read this today and thought 'me too' then I just happen to run across this in the Safeway (supermarket) parking lot. I knew it was something special (from the center-lug wheels), had to read the discrete 'GT3 Touring' badge in the engine grille to know for sure. And that moment was far more impressive than any wing viewed from a quarter-mile away....

Not my color, but, that's close to perfection.

99.99% of people just see that as a plain-jane Porsche 911. Even a lot of those that own a Porsche. That owner didn't buy that car to tell the world. He/she bought it for themselves. To have that shite-eating grin whenever it's driven.

And if a few car fanatics happen to spot it and know how special it really is, the owner knows he/she's talking to a true enthusiast.

No $149.99 Pep Boys special will ever do that.

I think you're probably right that you can go a bit over the top with these things and the 718 looks very good as is.

Though IMO Techart have done a dam good job with making a 718 a "GT4" performance level car with rear wing and all way before Porsche does next year.

Personally I quite like some of the carbon accents like mirror caps, inlet covers and front spoiler but I probably wouldn't feel comfortable driving around with the rear wing. Although I think it looks fricken awesome on the techart car and if it was a GT4 I guess I'd have to get used to it.

Poor GT3, had it’s wing clipped. Nothing sadder then a neutered GT car.>:D
