It seems like a long time coming, but finally picked up my GT Silver Cayman T from the dealership. After a long wait for build and shipping, she'd been sat at the dock for an extra week or so waiting for certification, but with that done, she was prepped last week and ready for the big day. There is something about seeing it in the flesh for the first time when that cover comes off:

The configurator preview does not do this car justice, and neither do my amateur photography skills. In the flesh she is stunning. The spec is not built for luxury, so in the interests of weight-saving I eschewed the full leather interior or heavier 14-way motorised seats, kept the lighter wheels and kept the manual transmission - which is so engaging and fun with the short throw, it is now my favourite 'box ever. No buckets, as I need ISOFIX points, but the sports plus seats are great with the leather/sport-tex combination.

I absolutely did not like crawling along in the heavy traffic as I left the dealer, and I have to admit I was nervous as **** about getting a ding or a scrape navigating heavy city traffic. On such a hot day I was also not too keen on being sat stationary watching the oil temp rise as we crept around, but then suddenly we were out into the country and free of the city constraints. I got to have a little fun on the open road (all very much within the law and car's abilities until bits are well "run-in") and before long I was home.

I promised myself some time ago that by a certain age, I would have myself a Porsche. Well, this is it - a dream come true.

Firstly, that is one beautiful "T" and I especially like your colour choice.;) Your drive home and the jitters you experienced is something we all can easily relate to but the most nerve racking drive for me was driving my first child home from the hospital. I couldn't understand why people would be insensitive enough not to realize they should have cleared all the roads.

Congratulations looks great... where are you from in Buckingham... we have a WhatsApp group that regularly meet up... I’m Milton Keynes, I’m sure we would all like to see the T?
I'm in MK as well - are there a lot of us? With the current weather you guys may spot me doing some familiarisation runs  lets see if we have that many decent roads nearby.

Bought it in London as it's convenient from work, less so for the drive home however. Will have to get it serviced more locally but there's the OPC nearby plus a couple of decent indies I'm told.

I did get a PM re the group so I will sort that soon - thank you.

Beauty! The silver looks even better being accented by the black wheels and black decal.

I think the photo has come out really impressive showing the different shades of color of the GT Silver and the black wheels almost look like some sort of grey metallic which I don't think they can be. The background scenery is also really well composed.

It almost looks like a professional shot. Don't tell me you used an Iphone!?

Anyway, beautiful looking car and great delivery photo. Look forward to seeing more.

Uncommon instance of the monochrome wheel crests looking better with the overall apperance than the fancy pants color ones.

The black wheels are in fact a metallic dark grey (Porsche calls it titanium grey) that is very close to the agate grey mirrors and decals - hence why I add that I'm not a great photographer, because if I were, I'd have made sure of capturing such subtle details. In my defence I was using a Pixel 2 and just a quick touch up to correct for lighting.

Had I taken it on my Canon I probably could have got a better shot but taking that seems like overkill for collecting a car. My intent is to find some nice scenery and take some proper shots that hopefully look better; I'll be sure to share them.
