My turn for an allocation cayman GTS

Hi everyone!
It’s finally my turn for an allocation for a cayman 718 GTS. I’ve been waiting for a year for this allocation. The car is scheduled to be built starting in April. The dealership is asking for my build by Thursday.

I was hoping I could run my build with you guys as this is the first porsche I’m going to own.
I test drove a 2017 cayman 718 S in manual and absolutely loved it.

I have some questions:
Regarding PASM, it raises the ride height by 10 mm right ? I just want to confirm that this is not a typo. They didn’t mean to say lower by 10mm?
Does anyone here have any experience with the bucket seats? Would they do it again ?
I really can’t decide between shark blue, arctic grey and python green. All are such beautiful colors. Does anyone here own an arctic grey 718 ? Would you do it again ?
Thank you everyone.

The general recommendation is that if you are a regular track junkie, then stick to the steel brakes if possible, as the CC rotors are painfully expensive to replace. For fun track days, it's ok.
For street, CC brake advantage is less brake dust and much lower unsprung mass what helps with comfort and steering.

My wife really wanted to push me to have PCCB as it looks good to her :D
Thanks for your comment!
can you please share your build with me and any photos of your car?
thanks
Addendum re Race-Tex vs Ventilated seats BTW: The Race-Tex fabric does not get anywhere near as hot as leather. Also, high-grade ceramic window tint keeps the car from getting uncomfortably hot as well.

One helluva way to reduce brake dust, but they are yellow .
I’m curious to know how many people here have PPF or some other type of paint treatment ?
Full ppf here. My town gravels the streets in winter and I wanted to drive the car all year. By the time I figured out what to protect from the chips almost everything but the back hatch was going to be covered. Easy decision to go the whole tomato 🍅 --- Pun intended (look at my avatar 😁)

Hi everyone
is there an extended fuel range tank option? I’ve noticed it previously but couldn’t find it currently.
Extended range fuel tank is standard on the GTS.

Just reviewed your build. It's fantastic. I see you are doing the rear wing and window trim in black. I also did that to add some contrast. I suggest you consider the door handles as well.

Those aurum wheels intimidate me though. Have you seen them to be sure of how they'll match up with the arctic grey?

I would otherwise wimp out and go with a platinum wheel. The shade is closer to aurum in depth--- neither as shiny as silver or as bold as black. If platinum seems too boring consider the Carrera Sports. Their polished edges add back a bit of pop to an admittedly quiet color.

thank you I’m going to make some changes for the final build. The one I submitted to the dealership this past Thursday they are going to let me change.
They told me we will meet in two weeks and finalize it then.
I’ve decided for sure I will pass on the bucket seats.
the dealer also mentioned to me that Porsche is all out of bucket seats and are only reserving them for the gt cars so I have to choose another option 2 way, 18 way etc.
Well, make sure you post that final build for us so can salivate over it with you.......

I did this on a white image for better detail. I'm having full front PPF and the rocker and quarter area around the side vent - there's a split line for the panel above the vent

since the body flares out behind the door, any grit driving in rain or roads with grit can kick up and chip that area around the side vent. This will avoid any seams and would be one piece

thanks for the post!
is this something we do at the dealership afterwards or do we bring it somewhere else and get it done?
how much does this typically cost?
thanks

in my instance - the installer comes to the dealer and will do several cars in their service area

as part of the deal (my order is through an out-of-state dealer), I'm having the PPF done through the dealer - once mine is done (in February when the CGTS arrives) I can update what the pricing will be.

I would have been doing this through a local independent shop in my area (in addition to having window film for UV protection installed on all glass, including full windshield). Now I'll just have the window film installed locally after the car is shipped to me

Perfect coverage save for one question: Can't the paint behind the rear wheel get dinged, or is the shape of the body such that it is unlikely?

Also, putting the ceramic on the uncovered paint probably would cost as much as doing full PPF. The new top-line PPF's incorporate hydrophobic properties so you wouldn't have to worry about adding the cost of coating the film.

the bumper cover tapers back after if the wheel opening - I haven't had any issues in those areas with my other cars

typically it's the sloped low front ends that get chips in the paint and if the body curves in towards the rocker panel, with wider tires up front stuff gets slung from the tires onto the parts of the body

Cost for PPF various based on location and skill as labor is majority of cost. I paid almost 4K (in bay area California) for full side, rear rocker panel, and strip behind rear wheels. Find a highly experienced shop or you may end up with PPF coming off at edges or worse small knife mark between panels.

Yes it can and most PPF kits include a template for the rear wheel arch and bumper section behind the rear wheel. It did get dinged on my 2018 so PPF was a no brainer there on my 2023. It was included as part of the rocker PPF pricing.

Also you absolutely need to top coat your PPF with ceramic. They are two completely different products meant to do two entirely different things. Paint correction, then PPF first, then coat the entire car after.
