Hi All,
Have been lurking here for a bit while looking for the right car...it's been great help in picking a car with the most recommended options since I'm too impatient to wait for an order and was looking for someone else to take the first bit of depreciation. Picked up a "used" White 2018 Cayman S from the Porsche dealer Saturday. A bit under 2k miles on it by the previous owner who according to the dealer (it was sold by them originally) turns his leased vehicles over fairly quickly. Carrera S 20" in satin black, PTV, PASM, Sport Exhaust, 14-way and odds and ends. Attached the build options as a picture. Still figuring out what to do about the front plate since I'm in Maryland. Saw one on here bent to fit and have used a tow hook mount in other vehicles before but would like to see some other options, I'll poke around some more in the forum. Still looking around for other popular mods...did see someone with blacked out side markers that look interesting.

...Welcome...and Hello Maryland! Graduate and Postgraduate education in Baltimore...lived on West Pratt Street, by Oriole Park at Camden Yards, for 15 years before relocating to Southern Coastal Maine in 2001. Beautiful Cayman and what a great deal. (Gotta love those short term leasers!) Regarding front plates, I seem to be in the minority. I don't mind the fit, or drilling of front plate mounts. I view it as a rolling billboard...pick a nice specialty plate (for example, our Lobster plate background), then add a unique vanity word or phrase to suit my vehicle. It's an extension of my cars personality...LOL...and it has been working for me for a good 32 years! Anyway, congrats again. That beauty definitely had your name on it...enjoy!

My guess is the previous owner didn't care for the car. He couldn't have had it for more than 8-10 months.

His loss is your gain. Congrats!

Welcome and Congratulations.......very smart buying a lightly used pre-owned 718 CS. If your close to 2K miles you are nearly through the recommended break-in which is another bonus.

Break-in? I know what the manual says, but boy, I was just at a Porsche Experience Drive and we were tracking cars that were brand new. As in they only had enough miles on them to get them off the trucks and for the Porsche team to put a handful of miles on them to make sure they seemed to be working right. No car I got into for a drive on the track had more than 80 miles on it and i was not the first person to get in any of them. Lowest mileage was in the 30s, and again, I wasn't the first person to take the seat.

but then again, these cars will get hammered our a little bit and then sold, so do follow the manual for your personal car! I will be.

My view would be that PEC doesn't have time to break-in a bunch of cars that are going to be their track cars. Drive them like crazy, sell them on the market when done. The other option would be to break their track cars in at the factory prior to shipment or at the PEC facility on a special test bed. That could easily be done in a couple days of dedicated break-in. I highly doubt (ie: chances are about 0.000%) that this is what's done.

Thanks everyone for the welcome. I've ordered the clear side markers and I'm thinking about just going without the front plate for now. Anyone from Maryland gone without and gotten a ticket? Wondering what the "fee" will be for taking this path. I drove it home from New Jersey so it's now over 2k miles so I assume out of breakin (I admit I haven't considered driving it "gently" at all, not that I could help myself). I'm in northern Baltimore county and will probably head to the next Hunt Valley Horsepower event.

Welcome fellow Marylander :)

I drove a couple of months before installing the front plate. I was not pulled over.

I'm now sporting Porsche Club of America plates and don't mind at all.

If your schedule is free, consider attending the Porsche Club of America event coming up in September ( https://www.pca.org/event/2018-05-22/pca-open-house ). We are fortunate enough to live in the same state as the National Porsche Club Office. My wife and i attended the event last year and really enjoyed ourselves. Great free catered food. Awesome raffle prizes. A tour of the headquarters and oral history of the National Club. Meet the President (of the club) :). Really down to earth Porsche owners, and some amazing Porsche vehicles.

Greetings and congratulations. I am a fellow Marylander. I placed an order several weeks ago for a similarly equipped 718 Cayman S. It is supposed to arrive around Thanksgiving. Enjoy!

Congratulations. I am also a Marylander. I have an allocation for a 2019 Cayman S. It will have PASM, PTV and PSE also. I am trading my 2016 base Cayman. Hopefully it will be delivered around Thanksgiving.
