Hi all. I just put a deposit down for a new Cayman S. 40th bday pressie to myself. Carrera White Metallic with Carrera Sport wheels. Manual transmission, full black leather interior, sport chrono and sport exhaust. No PASM or PTV. It will be built in November and I should have it in February. This will be my first Porsche and first sports car. Look forward to being part of the community.

Congrats! She'll be a beaut! My condolences for the wait...it's excruciating.

Congratulations. You're going to love that car. But, it will either teach you or test your patience. First you'll wait for it to be built, then you'll track it on the ship, then you'll wait for it to get to the dealer, then you'll wait for dealer prep and possibly paint protection, then (and perhaps the hardest wait of all) you'll have to make it through the break in period.

You can pass your time on this forum and looking for goodies for you and the car. For a first mod, I'd suggest changing out the orange marker lights for clear led lights. An easy mod that improves the look of almost any color car.

Enjoy!!

Tom Petty was right, the waiting is the hardest part. One thing that most of us who ordered their car experienced is that they arrived about 2 to 3 weeks ahead of schedule as Porsche builds a lot of fudge time in to the schedule. Hopefully that is still the case. Where are you taking delivery?

Thanks all. Enjoying the forums so far. This will have to do since I have exhausted all the YT videos. I did catch myself watching vids of how to quick shift a manual haha. The one I tested had PDK and man that thing shifts quick...just wow.....but manual for me...

RGM718 - That must be so painful for you. Ha!

XK4 - I hate you so much right now for making me read my reality :D. Do you mean the front fender indicator lights? I have confirmed with the dealer that these will come with clear lenses.

Changed my wheels to the Carrera S in Platinum. Wasn't sure about the Carrera Sport and White body.

Dealer confirmed we got a build slot for November. Just can't wait now, such a long time. Good excuse to clean out the garage though, currently a 'storage' area.

Congratulations and welcome! I’m based in Auckland and was planning on buying a new Cayman S for a big birthday this year. Unfortunately some “life stuff” intervened so decided to hold off for a while. The original plan was to order sometime between July and October but now will most likely only be at the end of the year or early next year; so I spend my time playing around on the configurator (you should see how many config codes I have), frequenting this forum and reading magazines. Frustratingly my current car is now also starting to cost me money (just had new discs and pads installed all round....)

Nice. Yeah I spent hours and hours on the configurator. Even now I still mess with it. My first spec was a bit crazy, I then thought long and hard and knowing myself I won't be married to this car an will upgrade/update at some point in the next few years. So I dialed it down a bit to something more reasonable but still very much to my liking. Here's my options list:

  • Exterior Colour 2Y Carrara White Metallic NZ$0.00
  • Interior Colour AZ Leather interior package in Black NZ$4,830.00
  • Exterior 498 Deletion of model designation NZ$0.00
  • 602 LED main headlights including Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus) NZ$2,540.00

  • QR5 Sport Chrono Package including mode switch NZ$3,800.00
  • XLX Sports exhaust system (incl. sports tailpipes in black) Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur NZ$4,490.00
  • Wheels 433 20-inch Carrera S wheels NZ$3,100.00
  • Wheel Accessories XDH Wheels painted in satin platinum (complete) Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur NZ$2,080.00
  • Interior 457 Lane Change Assist NZ$1,340.00
  • P07 Adaptive Sports seats Plus (18-way, electric) NZ$2,320.00
  • Interior Leather EKC Leather interior package (with leather interior) Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur NZ$1,680.00

@puffyD Nice, we definitely have a few options in common, particularly the manual transmission. I can share my current spec with you when I get home this evening. Did you buy from Armstrong Prestige? As you are (one of?) the first kiwis on the forum who has actually ordered an 718 I would be interested to know what you were able to negotiate in terms of discount? Feel free to PM me if you want to. Cheers.

Nice ride. Many of my friends comment on 718 CaymanS because I have the 20”Carrera wheels ( picked car up this past March, GT silver metallic, 6 speed manual). What a fun ride , even more fun than my 2 year old M4 (daily drive, no highways). The CS just kills the turns
