Hello. New member here from Charleston, SC. I just ordered a 2019 718 yesterday. Looking forward to being a part of this community. Unfortunately the earliest build date my dealer had available was the end of April, so it will be a little while until I get my car :( Not new to Porsche. As an "older" member, lol, I previously, many years ago, owned a 1975 914 2.0, a 1982 924 Turbo, a 1984 and a 1986 944. Looking forward to being back in a Porsche again :) My present ride is a 2007 Z4 M Roadster. Yes, I'm leaving the dark side and coming back to Porsche >:D Just kidding.

welcome

a long wait but it will be worth it - such a good car and as soon as you hit your first back road you will wish you had come back to Porsche a while back - I know I did

Welcome! I absolutely loved my 1986 944. It was a tad underpowered but what a joy to drive in the mountain and lowland "twisties" alike. And of course, now I am completely happy with my 2018 Cayman.

With everything glorious I've heard about the Z4M, the 718 is arguably the only new car on the market that could compare.

I assume you're selling the Z4M? Oughta bring a good-sized set of pennies these days ... :D

Congrats! Now, the wait ... what's your spec/build?

Thank you! I'm going to list the Z4M over at ZPOST when I get a little closer to delivery. I hope you are correct, although I think I am probably a little ahead of the curve on these things starting to really climb in value.

I opted for the base 718 over the "S", my reasoning was a combination of price versus performance increase for the additional funds, as well as being able to use more of the base power in real world driving conditions. I don't track or autocross anymore, and felt the additional ponies were overkill for me personally. Now if I was still 30 years old >:D ........ would most likely be a different story :) I also opted for more of a pure driving car, leaving off a lot of the bells and whistles.

GT Silver Metallic
Black top
Standard Interior in Black/Bordeaux Red with Leather Package i.c.w. Sport Seats
"718 Boxster" Logo changed to "718"
Fuel Cap with Aluminum Look Finish
6-speed Manual Transmission
Sport Tailpipes in Silver
19" Boxster S Wheels
Wheel Center Caps with Colored Porsche Crest
GT Sport Steering Wheel
Sport Seats (2-way)
Seat Heating
Luggage Net in Passenger Footwell
Sport Style Pedals and Footrest
BOSE® Surround Sound System

The one concern I have involves the "Black/Bordeaux Red with Leather Package" interior. I've seen pictures of this combination with the instrument cluster cover done in Bordeaux Red, but the configurator pictures show the cover in black. I know Porsche had a lawsuit involving reflections on the windshield, hence the warning now on light colored dashes. I'm assuming that maybe Porsche "dropped" the red instrument cluster cover in favor of keeping the entire dash black in this color combination. I hope that is the case, I'd prefer it be black.

I consider myself an audiophile also, Viffermike, and enjoy your posts concerning all things audio. I would have liked the Burmester sound system, but that was another "price versus quality diminishing returns" issue for me. I thought about just getting the standard system for easier modding, but decided on the Bose. Hopefully one day we'll get interface options that work with the MOST 150, I assume those options are still limited in scope. It will be interesting to compare the Bose system in the Boxster to the Carver/Top Hi Fi system I have in the Z4M.

Thanks again for the welcome guys. I look forward to being a part of the 718 family 0:)

OP, if you haven't already, I suggest you see the black/bordeaux for yourself. I had it configured for months and sent that to several dealers as part of my build. When I saw it in person the red was much to red imo. I would have preferred something darker. The config doesn't accurately reflect the true color I don't think.

Thanks, I'm going to the dealer next week.

Bordeaux over black is actually very subtle against the right exterior colour in my opinion - my car is GT silver

I have had nothing but positive reactions from all who save seen my car "in the flesh" but the only view that matters is yours!

as you can see on my car the whole leather above the silver strip is black

the bose is decent but I am not sure any sound in a small sports car will be great - the burmester seems very expensive and I suspect after market specialists can do more for less if you want a more audiophile sound

otherwise I think you ticked all the right boxes except maybe wheels as love the 20" Carrera sports wheels in gloss black that I have but they aint cheap
