Hi all, after reading your forum for the last few weeks I've decided to join as I put my deposit down on a new 718 Cayman GTS yesterday!

I'm beyond excited, spec is:

Jet black
PDK
-20mm PASM
Folding wing mirrors
Front and back sensors
GTS alcantara interior in black
Carbon trim
Bose

I've been stressing for weeks about the colour. Liked Agate grey, GT Silver and Jet black. Thought I'd go with Agate as all my cars have been grey with black alloys. But after seeing all three colours it was Jet Black with GT Silver in second. I though the way the black caught the light was amazing and with the smoked lights and matte black wheels etc it would look great. Anyone else consider black?

The test drive was yesterday (718 S) in the cold and rain, classic UK conditions and it was incredible. I've had M4s before and an A45 and the 718 S blew me away. So responsive, loved the sound on start up and under acceleration and my god did it rev!! It just kept on! All whilst never losing footing or traction. What a car.

Anyone that is unsure, just jump in one and drive it. You'll be hooked.

Welcome. Does the GTS model offer the heated multifunction steering wheel? If so it’s a very useful option.....I also like the LCA option as well.......not intending to run up your bottom line.....
You will love it. I test drove the standard car then the S model and was blown away. Mine has arrived in the dealers just waiting for March 1st registration.

Front & Rear parking Sensors
PDK

Multi Function heated steering wheel
Auto dimming mirrors
Folding mirrors

Yes, it's also an option in the UK on the GTS.

I have it on my spec but didn't bother with LCA. I had LCA on a hire car on holiday and really didn't like it. I found it intrusive and unnecessary.

In all my years of driving without LCA I have never found it too hard to change lanes by looking in my mirrors and avoid crashing into other cars in doing so.

Never had LCA either on any car, and have found some cars I test drove like the Mazda Miata would beep incessentaly......very annoying. Though, the LCA simply blinks but is not, to me at least, bothersome or intrusive.

Lucky you. I find it annoying/distracting when the mirror blinks on cars I'm passing!

I am also concerned that "too many helpers" will contribute to lazy attention. I know that since I went to PDK after 40+ years of manual transmissions I can rarely be bothered to shift for myself.

Don't have LCA on my 718 but my wife's car (2017 Mazda CX-5) does. I find it useful when driving her car. It doesn't beep all the time. A waring light comes on in the right or left side mirror when a car is beside or close behind. The beep only comes on if a car is there and the turn signal is on.
