Hi everyone,

I ordered a 718 Boxster (base model) at the end of October (Halloween). The build allocation is for January, and the estimated date of pick up from the Sydney dealership is late March to early April.

It is my first Porsche and I am ridiculously excited!! My current cars are an Audi A3 cabriolet, and a Q3 for moving the kids around. The Audis have done a fine job of getting me from A to B in a reliable and comfortable manner... but neither put a big stupid grin on my face like when I was test driving the 718.

I thought I was going to buy a 981 initially because of all the talk about the emotion/sound of the flat 6 engine, and how sacriligious it would be to prefer a 4 cylinder turbo. But I test drove the 981 then 718 back to back, and it completely reversed my opinion that I had walking in the dealership (my opinion which had been formed from all the forum talk and YouTube videos I had watched). The low end torque and overall feel of the car sealed it for me within a minute of driving the car. It was love at first sight (drive?)!

I used/read/lurked this forum a lot to help me decide on my option choices. But I decided not to post until today for some reason...

Welcome to the Best Car Forum about the Best Car......the 718...... As I have stated in other previous threads......I test drove 2016 and 2014 981 C and CS/manual & PDK, 2017 982 Cayman and Cayman S/manual & PDK, 2017 911 Carrera and Carrera S/PDK, 2016 GT3/PDK, and the car that was the most fun to drive was and is, for me, the 718 with PDK.....

Hoping they make a 718 GT4.....

Welcome! I test drove both the base 718 Cayman and a base 981 Cayman and immediately knew which was the right car for me.

I test drove a 991.2 Carrera S PDK as well during my decision making process... because well I had to drive a 911 because of the reputation.

But before i even started, I preferred the shape and aesthetics of the Boxster/Caymans (981 and 718) over the 911 Carrera (991 997 996). And then after driving, I preferred the handling and feel of the Boxster as well.

What unites all of us is the 718 be it Boxster or Cayman and, of course, impeccable taste......
