Congrats and welcome! I did a similar trip to pick-up a 17 CS. The 700+ mile drive home was icing on the cake.
New to Porsche and this forum
In late December 2019, I found a 2018 718 Cayman base that had a manual transmission, low mileage, and a better than expected price. I flew across the country to see it and now it’s mine. 
This is my third German car, but first Porsche. So far, I’m thrilled.
