New X-pipe/tips option for 718

For those of us who have no urge, for whatever reason, to install an aftermarket exhaust ... and those of us who are not happy with how the OEM tips are wearing cosmetically (I'm in that camp, and have been since before 1K miles):

This assembly from Soul, a relatively new player in the exhaust game. Comes with a variety of tip options that range from straight/slash cuts to matte/gloss finishes.

This is in addition to this similar offering from Fabspeed, which is (unfortunately) not available in black metal. (Cue extreme Scandinavian band jokes, hehe.)

I'm about 80 percent sure i'll be ordering the Soul unit in the next month. Will keep the forum posted.

Cool, thanks for sharing this. I was just noticing my tips weren't looking great this past week when I was washing my ride. I'm still up in the air about replacing the complete exhaust but will consider these if I decide not to (or if they work with whatever I get).
Thanks, looks like a useful technical improvement.
Nice find! The Soul tips are a good alternative to the Fabspeed tips. However, the carbon fiber tips from Fabspeed wouldn't show wear like polished or anodized metal.

I've seen these tips for sale on eBay and other websites (like below) for around $400 or less. I actually made a trade for a complete GT4 exhaust in hopes of installing it on my father's 2016 GT4, but its been sitting in storage for almost a year now. The exhaust has about 10k miles on it from the previous owner and the tips still look great.

I, too like the Soul exhaust tips, so am torn between going OEM and Soul. I already contacted Soul and asked a few questions. I like that they protrude about 1/4" more than stock. Not sure what the pros and cons are for either. I was thinking I could do the install myself by sliding the mufflers on the hangers but according to the Soul rep, you actually have to remove the mufflers.

That makes sense since they 'slip on' to muffler outlets that face each other instead of face toward the rear of the car. To install it means pulling the two muffler assemblies apart from each other enough to remove the old tip assembly and install the new one.

One 'con' about protruding more: Your shins will be more susceptible to being burned by a tip while leaning over the rear hatch. Ask me how I know ... ;P

Does anyone know how all these sound? The OEM dual tips, vs Fabspeed vs Soul? The OEM are not x-pipe designed so probably retain the OEM single outlet exhaust sound (if I had to guess).

I think I would get the single wall black tips to try to match my wheels.
I decided to try these out and got the slash cut black tips. My wife took a photo for me since she had them installed while I was at work. I will try to take some other photos once I get home.

Please do! Planning on giving Soul a call on Friday afternoon to order a pair just like those!

Any change in sound (pulse cadence, mainly)?
She says it sounds a little more grumbly....not sure what that means lol.....I will provide a more detailed response after I get home tonight. the pipes are an x-pipe so probably does create some difference in sound pulse. I haven't disabled soundaktor yet either so my experience might not be the same as others.

I see you putting the bimmerpost folks in their place with the cayman review.

Always gotta keep those cats honest. ;P

Okay as promised, some additional photos. I apologize for the lighting contrast but it was early evening.

Can’t forget to add my awesome little 135is:

As for the sound, I do think it is ever so subtly deeper, but not by much at all. The main purpose to get these is if you want a more aggressive look compared to the regular dual exhaust tips or single outlet.
Thanks for sharing, these look great, especially the Signature Satin and Brushed. Not cheap though, OEM Sport Tips are NZ$550, whereas these would be NZ$600 before shipping. Assuming they even ship to NZ, I would guess that i'd be looking at closer to NZ$800.

They also seem to stick out quite a bit more than the OEM ones, although this seems less pronounced with the single wall ones. Does the X-Pipe configuration change/improve things in any way?

I don't think the x-pipe does a whole bunch. I have swapped out an H pipe with an X pipe on my mustang and it made a big difference, but I think because the x-pipe is behind the two mufflers and basically at exit don't really have an opportunity to do much to sonic pulses. It does sound a little deeper, but I'm 53, have tinnitus from serving in the military and attending rock concerts. So maybe I'm not hearing as clearly as I could. $455 is definitely less expensive compared to the Porsche exhaust tips which are $590 at Suncoast parts. I did get a military discount off the $455. The install can be done at home if you can raise the back end. I took it to a local indy shop and it took them about an hour to raise the car and make sure everything was lined up correctly etc.

Ordered signature satin - Slash cut
Will report ...
Will order the same sometime this week. Really like the look of those. I just hope I don't hit my shin on 'em when reaching into the hatch area ...

The installer apparently didn't insert the tips as far as they should have. I have since adjusted them:

I think you should be okay. I haven't had any issues hitting my leg on them.

Oh that's MUCH better! Looks clean, too! Thanks!
Yeah, I showed the photos to one of the Soul PP reps, Evan, and he noticed them. I thought they stuck out a little far but wasn’t sure what was correct. He let me know they should be tucked in a bit more, so that’s what I did. It definitely makes them look right now.
