Hi everyone,

I want to get a roadster and thinking about the boxster or the z4 40i.

I would do dayly commute (20km) and occasional weekend trips in france, germany, luxemburg...

Im used to go driving in the weekend with motorcycle buddies, so i am used to driving fast and enjoying the corners. And I love it when i can control a cars rear end to break.

Just did a test drive with a boxster s 718 with pasm -10 and sport chrono on 20 inch wheels.
It was like intense paradise with a very happy end!!!

BUT...

The engine is too strong for daily driving for me. Im sure the regular boxster 718 will be just fine.
The ride was too harsh but i loved the cornering speeds. I would get 18 inch wheels without pasm if up to my taste, but wondering if I should take the pasm -10 mm on 18 inch wheels to get more comfy ride.

enjoy your cars !!

cheers

Dirk

I have a 2019 base Cayman with stock 18-inch wheels, PASM and SC, see my signature for more. Mine is a toy, so can't help with the overall DD aspect, however, it definitely feels like a sports car but I'm rarely in Normal mode, and almost always in Sport, unless I'm on a track and then it's Sport+. I would think a base with PDK would ideal for you. SC and PASM are a must for me, with a wider range of ride levels, but I think it is still going to feel sporty at any level without those. You definitely feel more in Sport and Sport+.

Here in Western PA the roads certainly aren't the best yet with SPASM and 20s I don't find the ride harsh or jarring at all and most of the time I'm driving with S+ on. There is the rare occasion I'll hit the button to turn off suspension tuning because of a washboard surface, but not often. The compliancy of the ride was one of the aspects of my test drive that impressed me the most.

Base Boxster here—no suspension extras, 18" wheels. The ride is very compliant, even on poorer roads. Except on the worst, really bad stretches it rides better than my previous Subaru, and much better than my Moto Guzzi California 1100.

thank you for those feedbacks! they're all very helpful. I'm gonna do 2 more testdrives this weekend. One boxster with pasm, and one without. Don't remember the rim sizes right now...
I am very positively surprised with the amount of feedback of this forum. Thank you all!
