Just bought a NHP cat-bypass and since there was a serious lack of videos for a cat bypass with the stock muffler/PSE I figured I would make a video. I did the install myself and was very impressed by the quality and how perfect everything fit in the car. I have bought a few higher end exhausts before for similar cars and they have always never quite fit perfect, but no problems with the NHP. Welds and quality were also spot on. Me and the wife loved the difference it made. The pops between shifts and in sport mode are a lot louder and the overall sound is more aggressive and louder. While in normal mode though it is still very livable and quiet if needed. I drive a 70 mile commute that is mostly highway and it is 100% fine with no drone at all. Unfortunately the 718’s sound never seems to translate well to camera (as I'm sure you all know by now,) but I think it still sounds pretty good in the video… Just definitely significantly better in person. It is a great option If you like the stock sound but want to have it be a higher volume and more aggressive (provided you have no emissions testing.) Also, this is not mentioned in the advertising for it but there is a mini cat within the bypass pipe leading to the O2 sensor (see pictures) so as far as the ecu can tell there is still a cat. Very interesting idea, jury is still out for the long term but so far in about 100 miles I have not had a check engine light with no tune. Will update if I do get one.

Sounds great. I’m thinking of the Fabspeed high flow cat and leave stock mufflers so there is little chance of drone. Plus pick up a few hp and tq!

How long did it take to install? Where you on the floor or have a lift?
In September I will have the Fabspeed Sport Cat and Exhaust tips installed. I wanted to keep the functionality of the exhaust button, so I decided against the Turboback exhaust. Almost went with the Turboback.

That NHP exhaust sounds very good.

Thanks! Install was pretty straight forward and fairly easy. Did it on the ground with ramps and spent about 2-3 hours taking my time.

When I installed my exhaust, and removed the cat and pipe (turbo-to-axle) section, the only way I could find to get it completely out was to remove the diagonal braces between the body and the center section under the engine.

The Porsche manual (at least for the 981, I can't find one for 718) states that you're not supposed to have any weight on the wheels when you remove those braces (and that, once you unbolt any "threaded fastener" under these, you're supposed to get your alignment checked).

So, I rented a lift (fortunately, we have some place near Seattle which rents lift bays).

The main reason I even thought to check is because when I went to unfasten one of the nuts holding it on, something in the body/suspension creaked, and I became suspicious.

Were you able to get that section out without removing those braces, or did you remove them with wheels on the ground? (And, if the latter, presumably no problems?).

I did have to remove the braces but upon taking them off there was clearly no load on them during removal and reinstalation so I didn't think much of it. They just seemed like the usual body braces to add rigitity under high torsion loads in cornering etc, not like something bearing any load while stationary. I have seen no I'll effects from doing it but thank you for the heads up on that and may have alignment checked to be safe I gotta say though I'm a little uncertain how a small brace joining parts of the chassis and not any suspension components could effect alignment.

keep us posted with any check engine lights coming on, did you add the Bung??
I bought an O2 sensor/mini cat bung but did not end up using it since I saw it was already built into the cat delete pipe. Currently have put about 7,000 miles since install on the car (using for 140 mile round trip daily commutes) and no check engine light so far.

Yeah, I wondered too. Glad to hear no ill effects. Maybe I'll do my next one on ramps in my driveway instead of renting the lift :).

I only saw this in a manual for the 981. maybe it's slightly different on our 718? Might have to do with body flex, but I agree... if any movement, I cannot imagine it would be much. Also, of note, the nuts where the brace connect to the actual body of car, according to manual, have rather low torque setting if I recall correctly, and at that level, seemed highly unlikely to be "loaded".

I'll probably be taking my Fabspeed off soon, but will be at dealer for my first complementary oil change soon, and maybe I'll ask if they know the real answer (this dealership used to be pretty forthcoming to mod'ers).

Just wanted to do a quick update. It has now been about 6 months and just hit around 15,000 miles since install. (yes I am putting miles on this car like crazy) I have yet to have a check engine light. I think at this point it's safe to say the integrated mini cat is effective long term.

Do you have emissions-testing required where you are?

I do not have emissions testing in my county, I would probably have went with a sport cat if I did, this would absolutely fail any emissions test.
