The Cayman does have a rotating sun visor. But I've been in several roadsters and none had a rotating visor (Boxster, Z4, Miata, maybe others). I wonder if it has something to do with potential interference with the convertible top or maybe wind buffeting when the top is down. The Straight Pipes YouTube channel always makes a point to test rotating visors and many sports cars fail the test!

I was just reading my owners manual for the 4th time and it advises that the visor rotates? Clearly it doesn't so maybe a generic carryover from the Cayman? Looking at the two pieces that make up the inside connection there is zero structural there...

My previous car, a 2008 Pontiac Solstice, had visors that didn't rotate either.

I found the fix on planet 9 forum and it works:
If you take the clip off that holds the inside part of the sun visor (using a torx bit), you'll see it's made up of 2 separate parts that come apart. They can be put together in 2 different ways.

The first picture below shows how mine was assembled and which doesn't allow the visor to release. But if you assemble it as in the 2nd photo, there's a considerable gap which allows the visor to release. I took a short test drive and the visors seem fine with the new configuration -- no rattling or falling out of the clip. This mod is also fully reversible.

There is a very small cap (1/2 inch X 1 inch) over what I believe permits access to the "torx" bit area (inside part of the sunvisor?). How do you get the cap off to get to torx screw?

I tried that. (2017 Boxster) Yeah it releases, but about half way around (IIRC) the internals bind on the roof catches. I pulled it all apart and couldn't see an easy fix. I went with a peaked cap.
