Bonjourno,

300 miles in, not quite two weeks ownership and I’m simply not enjoying the new GTS....i don’t know if it’s the seats, 18 ways, they seem too hard, not as good as the test cars standard two way GTS seats, the noise, but I knew how they sounded, just the whole package, it’s just not hitting the spot....I hate to say but it feels dull, it gets to well over legal speeds with too easily, even on my self imposed 3k Rev limit, there’s no drama, no satisfaction, I’m thinking I’ve made a huge mistake and ready to chuck the towel in, suck it up take the hit...this is not what I expected. The test drives, 3 in total but on roads I didn’t know we’re good, good enough to place an order. Maybe with the familiar roads I’m not concentrating on where I’m going so much. It’s hugely disappointing but I guess that’s how it goes sometimes.

Anyone else had this..?

I am still learning new things about the car on a weekly basis. I think they are slow burners but the longer I own it the more impressive I find it. I am heading towards the 10 month mark. I just find each drive an ‘event’

I guess it also depends on what sort of cars you have had in the past. I swapped out of a VW Golf GTi that I had owned for 10 years

3k rev limit in a sports car? You are not enjoying it and disappointed? ROFLMAO

Maybe you should have bought a Prius? Better yet, stay off the road and walk.

Unbelievable....

I would have thought that after 3 test drives you would have gotten a good enough feeling about the car to get you past the "disappointed" conclusion after 300 miles. Not saying you should love it, but your assessment is a fairly harsh conclusion. If you have that impression imprinted now, its not likely that any amount of additional driving experience is going to move the needle enough for you to keep it. Sounds like you need to take the hit and move on to whatever suits you. Good luck.

It’s a brand new car with 300 miles on it if you bothered to read my post, you keep them to 3k revs for running in. Maybe get your facts straight before mouthing off like a 16 yr old chav....

What was your ride prior to the GTS Cayman/Boxster? I think once you get to actually "drive" the car without any break-in constraints, you'll feel quite differently about things. You may not like the sound, but the car is anything but boring by any standard. Disconnect the Sound thingy and it will start to feel better too.

Contrary to the negative responses you’ll surely get for expressing your feelings, I too understand where your coming from. I test drove a base, an S and finally the GTS I bought. I owned a Shelby GT350 at the same time and sold it because the Porsche was the new toy and I had too many cars. The level of excitement that the Shelby exuded far surpassed the Cayman.

The Cayman is in my mind one of, if not the best looking cars in the world. I have the 18 way seats and they are okay, not as comfortable as I hoped they would be. I can tolerate a couple of hours max in them. As for the performance, it’s stellar and seamless, but it is indeed somewhat lackluster. I could achieve much greater G force in my Shelby than I have been able to do in the GTS. I’ve owned mine for a year and a half and the feelings haven’t changed.

I’ve only accumulated 2400 miles on mine and I do not get excited much at the prospect of driving it anymore. I too was going to sell it and move on, but after researching the value I’m not prepared to take a $35,000 hit on a car that is in perfect condition. I don’t need the money, so I’ll be keeping it for the duration. I have an empty slot in one of my garages and if something comes along that trips my trigger I can accommodate it.

It’s a great car though, almost drives itself and then there’s those timeless sexy looks.

Sure wish it sounded like an LFA though. Hope you achieve happiness with whatever comes next.

I think it’s 4000 rpm. That being said the only thing that keeps me from enjoying mine is traffic!! Love the ride, the sound, and the overall experience.

Might as well keep it for a little while, resale won’t matter whether it’s 300 or 3000 miles.

Sorry for your disappointment.

I read it and you are whining.

Sell the car, move on, junior.
Big man behind your keyboard aren’t you troll.

I didn’t expect such pathetic unintelligence on here, I guess there are idiots even in decent places.

Do me a favour and keep off my posts, I don’t come on here to read immature comments from morons. Thanks.

I might suggest trading for the C8 when it comes out as that way, you would only pay taxes on the delta ( if any...), and sounds like you might be happier with a mid engine (perhaps more drama) V8. Bang for buck favours the Vette so your loss on your Porsche would somewhat be mitigated. I am considering the same although I do however, appreciate my CS for what it is, engineering, styling and all.

The car is not broken in, you are keeping rpms low, you have had it for less than two weeks, and only 300 miles on it.

You sound like a flighty, flaky person.

Enjoy you car...or don't. Not my problem. Maybe you should learn to deal with life and not cry about it over the internet.
Correct it’s not your problem, so unless you can be mature, make normal comments without the mouth in drive before brain has engaged attitude, I’d appreciate you keeping quiet ok, does that register? As I said, you’re a big man hiding behind your keyboard.

Do you have any clue what a forum is? It’s where enthusiasts chat about their cars, there are plenty of boyracer chav moron sites for you to visit if this place isn’t to your liking to suit your knuckle dragging attitude.

OP, although I don't agree with Semitone's, er, tone, a valid point is raised.

During the run in period, the manual says keep under 4000 RPM (not the 3K you mentioned at first), and that number isn't even mentioned in the German manual (where it is avoid high RPMs, especially when engine is cold).

And my experience (having just completed break in, in the base 718) is that the car doesn't really come alive until you are over 3000 RPM. So you are judging the car when you are restricting your driving to the dead zone. No wonder you are disappointed. What I did, after the first few hundred miles were under my belt, and when the car was warmed up, I would shift at 5000RPM, to keep the car between 3000- 5000 RPMs when I was having fun. You really should at least try this before ditching the GTS. At least if you have a manual transmission, where you can control the RPM.

The manual hasn’t arrived yet, it’s due in at some point. I’m going on a thread on here about running in revs, some say 3k, some say 4K, but sure, if 4K is ok then great, I’ll give it some more throttled and see how we go.

Thanks everyone else for constructive replies.
