As some may remember from my intro post I picked up my 718S this week, as I always do with a new to me car is jack it up and look under neath, that’s when I spotted oil on side the large pan that covers the sump area, so removed it and then noticed a lot more oil, pictures below, any ideas it’s on passengers side (oz car so drivers side on USA model). Is in the far left corner from rear of car. Thoughts? cheers Darren

on my other car that's what it looks like when the motor mount pops. it has motor mounts filled with fluid. not sure if the 718 is similar or it's something else.

For the standard oil changes it seems that it can be difficult to get ALL the oil in the drain pan—so says my dealer. But the views under may car don't have anything like that.
I'd be taking mine to my dealer if I saw that as it's still under warranty—and here in Aus we have strong consumer protection legislation (even if it's sometimes hard to get it enforced on the big companies).

Thanks Greg, it has statutory warranty, and I’m sure it’s still got factory warranty (will call Porsche on Tuesday with vin number and ask them), and I’ve spoken with the dealer and they are apologetic and will advise whom I can take it to next week locally (they are Sydney based And I’m Townsville). The oil (or fluid) is old and dried though some still fresh so I can’t see how they “missed” it, posted on Facebook forum several seem to think it could be a weeping engine mount. But yes consumer protection in Australia is very good, I’m sure it will soon be a distant memory, the car is so bloody good though!,

My experience over the last 10 years of Porsche ownership in Australia has been faultless as far as warranty work goes.
Was is bought from a Porsche dealership?
No. Prestige Auto Traders. I’m sure they will look after me...

So... update... the dealer I purchase thru has been very helpful, and is allowing the local Porsche centre to do all necessary diagnostic and repair work at the dealers cost, yes as they should under warranty but to let the official Porsche service dept handle it all and not another repair house I think is a great result for me. Will go into them in the next few days to see what’s causing the oil leak. And a photo, well why you ask well because I can!...

Well, that is the side of the engine and below where the oil filter is located. That said, I'll concur with @MikePhDPE in that it looks a lot like aftermath of the hydraulic fluid engine motor mount used in my old Mini Cooper (R53) that spewed apart every 10k miles.

So update, the Porsche centre service team confirmed an oil leak, As well as a small coolant leak from water pump, don’t have details, but they Are doing up the details and quote for the dealer I purchased thru. Oil leak was already approved. Hoping the Water pump issue gets the same green light, no other issues except front pads are going to need replacement fairly soon, which isn’t a warranty concern.

Update...

Car spent 4 days at local Porsche Centre, all problems rectified, at great expense to someone!, great to have car back, did my own oil filter and oil change yesterday, saving $$ and this week will do brake pads and rotors saving more $$, and hopefully no other issues arise but if they do in the next 6 weeks before stat warranty runs out!

Dba42386xs slotted and drilled rotors, and ebc yellowstuff brake pads...

Dba are Aussie made, our local brake pad choices for 718 are non existent so the ebc are direct from them in the UK

Thanks for the info.

Is it possible to visually inspect for the coolant leak from water pump

I’d guess so, they were visually inspecting an oil leak on a hoist, when they found a small leak from water pump, apparently it’s a small known issue in early 718 models...
