Thanks. I just looked at the two light options. Interested to know why you would add them? I was advised to add them to my last car (M4) but chose not to. I get that they look nicer/cooler somehow and guess they're also brighter but I think I'd rather put the money into something else. I'm trying to stick to £70k so would have to loose something to add something else. The only option I'm struggling with is the GTS Interior package which also requires you to add the Alcantara Package GTS so a total of £3,338!!!!Nice config, I would add PDLS or LED headlights.
If you do nighttime driving/driving in bad weather situations or live on the countryside they will give you better lighting, the standard lights are pretty weak, there are some threads where this is also discussed. If you drop the rearview camera and speed limit indicator you are almost thereThanks. I just looked at the two light options. Interested to know why you would add them? I did get the full leather dash in the M4 and it makes a huge difference to the interior and that's where I spend most of my time so I felt I benefitted from it. Having said that, I also got a huge discount off the M4 that basically paid for all the options and I know there's no chance of any discount with Porsche UK.
First world problems hey :crying:
Best kind of problem to have........First world problems hey :crying:
May I suggest white dials and body colored side intakes? White dials to hopefully make them visible in low light conditions. Body colored side intakes because I think, with the lighter colors at least, that it just really makes that view of the car much nicer.I've specced a 718 Boxster GTS as follows: -
PK2F8737
Looking for any advice on what to add/take off. All opinions welcome.
I'm not fixed on the colour and could easily choose Miami Blue or Carmine Red.
Thanks in advance,
CH
I understand what you’re saying but there must be a minimum standard or brightness for headlights? When I go on holiday we rent a car and it’s always a pretty poor car that I drive during the night. I’ve never thought to myself that the headlights were too dim or even different to my own car. My eyesight is very good though so I wonder if this is a factor. My wife’s eyesight is very poor and she finds nighttime driving really difficult. Also, it could be one of those options that until you’ve experienced it you don’t need it?If you do nighttime driving/driving in bad weather situations or live on the countryside they will give you better lighting, the standard lights are pretty weak, there are some threads where this is also discussed. My car is specced with GTS package because I really wanted the stitching and leather, but it comes at a price like all options with Porsche. I was buying my dream car and didn't want to have any regrets.![]()
Thanks! Lucky that it’s you and your wife agonising over the configurator. My wife has no interest whatsoever. When buying a car for herself she’ll just tell me the colour she wants and then leaves me to spec it. She’s pretty much given up trying to influence me since I went to order our first new car. After much debate we’d agreed to buy a 3 series estate and I ended up ordering a coupe. She was pretty mad with me to say the least :laugh:Best kind of problem to have......... When in doubt stick to your budget and build the best car you can. Just be aware that trying to add "options" after the car is manufactured is very very costly. Though, good luck.....every time my wife and I build a Porsche we agonize over the configurator for months.
Agree with your first comment that you’ve been spoiled i.e. you’re used to brighter lights now and see a noticeable difference. Your second comment is worrying if you’re saying the standard 718 lights are poor in comparison to the standard BMW’s. Hopefully I can see for myself during a test drive (I’ve asked to borrow one overnight). The stock xenons are only 25W bulbs, the PDLS version has 35W bulbs, I have only been able to test the standard 25W bulbs in a 718, and that was enough to convince me to upgrade to PDLS.
It was quite literally some of the worst headlights in a brand new car i have tried in quite a few years.
But maybe I have just been spoiled as the last 3 of my cars has had LED headlights and the car before those had 35W Xenon.
Edit: Speaking of M4, the car I had 35W Xenon on was my 2015 BMW 428i, it was the stock headlights and they were in my mind really good (I did upgrade the bulbs to some higher tier Osram bulbs).
Depending on which year your M4 is they should be the same headlights, and i can say for sure that the 718 25W Xenons are quite dim compared to the BMW 35W.
That’s a nice 718 you have! I just rea the description of the led lights you have and it does sound quite temptingHI
Many items similar to our spec I would recomend you try the base sound vs BOSE the engine tends to win the internal cabin sound so we opted for the competent standard system.
We opted for only rear park as the front was annoying and we tended to use the audible rather than visuals of the camera.
PKS67M76 - this is our spec for interest, for us we chose LED & Auto climate instead of above,
Not convinced by white dials but might go for crayon to match the exterior colourMay I suggest white dials and body colored side intakes? MOO
Looks
Good points and, having read all replies, I’m now almost convinced I should get the LED’s. I’m such an easy sell!! I think, if there’s no chance of the full leather interior which there isn’t if I’m to keep within budget, then it may be worth dropping the options mentioned and getting the LED’s.Regarding the lights, i have owned three 718 and the three types of lights.
My 986 with xenon has better light then the standard light on 718.....
If your not gonna drive much in pitch black your gonna be ok with the standard.
There is a way to upgrade the bulb to a 35W but you aint gonna get the the swivel function and there is a risk you will blind oncoming traffic.
As @CupraLeon says, leave the rear camera and speed limit indicator out and your almost there.
Non of those will save your Life or making night driving a joy.
imho offcourse!
PDLS should be enough, PDLS+ gives you automatic low/high beam both have the corner light and they have the same amount of light.Good points and, having read all replies, I’m now almost convinced I should get the LED’s. My interior is alcantara, the reason I chose it: they hold you better compared to leather (no sliding) and when it's hot they dont feel as warm as leather seats offcourse the visual aspect too. I'm picking up my car this afternoon from the dealership, will post pictures so you get an idea.I understand what you’re saying but there must be a minimum standard or brightness for headlights? I could easily drop the speed limit indicator as I have this in my current car but I also have HUD which is where I see the speed limit. However, it’s not 100% accurate and without HUD in he 718 I’m not going to notice it as much and I think I would find it easier to just look at the road signs.
I could drop the rearview camera too as it’s just a luxury that I’ve grown accustomed to and could easily drive without it. This would go some way towards paying for the GTS package but I’d need to drop a few more options to cover all the cost
Is your interior leather or alcantara? I really like the idea of alcantara over leather. Never owned a car with any alcantara.
Definitely won’t be speccing two zone climate control. Have this on my current car and always set both dials to the same temperature. Just doesn’t make sense to have them putting out different temperatures in such a small space.
