Hello, I joined the forum today. I have been a member of the 986 forum since buying my 2005 Boxster S about 4 years ago. I should be one of the first driving a 718 Spyder as I put money down today and will have the first one allotted to my dealership. I had decided on a new GTS, and had my customizations picked out, waiting for the better half to agree to the purchase when the Spyder and GT4 were announced.

Awesome! I just ordered a Spyder also on Saturday. GT Silver Metallic, Leather/Alcantara Interior in Black with Silver Stitching, etc, etc. MSRP came to $114,770. No ADM. We want a PDK, so the wait will be longer. Late 2020, early 2021. we expect. Dealer in Naples, FL. Debating Euro Delivery. We were considering a 992 Cab until we saw this car at Porsche Parade in Boca Raton. These are a steal at this price versus 911, plus it will be much more unique. You see 911's all the time. This will be a LONG 1.5 year wait....!! :giggle:

A 6 speed would have been available early 2020. (Spring) Decided we really wanted a PDK. Worth the wait. I know...there are a lot of people who would prefer the “pure” version with the 6 speed, but after much thought and consideration, my wife and I decided on the PDK, regardless of extra wait.

When I put my money down they told me late in the year for delivery (December), every dealer I talk to now says Q2-2020 is the earliest I’ll see a six speed. My wife wants an automatic transmission for a backup vehicle, so if I jump a six speed before they show the PDK in the configurator I get to keep my 2005 Boxster S as well. That is what I call a win-win situation.

I stopped into my Porsche Dealership Saturday morning, getting information regarding Euro Delivery. While I was there I asked the General Sales manager about allocations. He said right now, they have one allocation for a 6 speed Spyder. More to follow...he wasn't sure when.

My SA said they were re-configuring some production per the GT4 and Spyder hence iffy on allocations. I put my deposit down in April for late September Euro pickup.

Joining the Spyder deposit crew here. Put down a deposit for an allocation today. Number five on the list so not holding my breath. If it happens, great. If it doesn’t I’ll continue to enjoy the CS and won’t lose any sleep over it.

The lines on the Spyder are stunning though.

Good luck on getting an allocation. My local dealer said they will get 3 or 4 allocations, but I think that depends on how many Boxsters they sell in an average year. A dealer with higher sales volume told me they should have about 8 allocations. They are both giving me about the same figure for dealer markup though.
