So after reading lots of threads about the computer readings of over revs it has me questioning a few things.

Can the dealer make an ‘issue’ about rpms over 4000 during the early life of the vehicle? Seems like they can only detect anything over redline?

Also, aren’t there Porsche delivery programs where you get to actually track your brand new Porsche on their grounds? Isn’t that against the intent of the break in period?

The over-rev counter starts in Range 1 which is a few RPMS under red-line. Keep it under 6500 or so and they have no way to know. BTW, for the first few hundred miles, you should bed in brakes and clutch. After 1000 or so, I think any reasonable flog is OK. You don't want to do it for sustained periods, say track day or serious back-roading for hours on end, but the odd visit to 5 or 6 grand is harmless. Avoid overheating, of course.

Also, avoid any hard driving until the oil temp gets to about 200F. By then, most of the metal parts have come up to temperature. This is not just for break-in, but for-ever. It will last a long time if you remember this one thing and keep the oil clean.
