I originally fell in love with Miami Blue but saw Mexico Blue on a 911 at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix

The 718 configurator seems to indicate the cost of a custom color is $11,000 and change. Is this true?

it may be but that sounds high to me. when i ordered my '17 cayman S it was a $5,000 option if i recall correctly. i almost got it to match my 83 targa in brick red metallic but had my heart set on a white cayman.

This is Intense Blue, resembles Mexico Blue I think. As a wrap, from a local high-end custom shop, maybe around $5k. Figure if I take it off in 5-7 years, my original factory paint/color is preserved like new.

I find myself tempted at this option...just not sure about wraps.
That is one possible avenue, especially since your paint underneath should be preserved. Iv'e never seen a wrap except in pictures (or at a restaurant ;)

You really can't see much of the outside from the inside, and as a driver's car...
Who doesn't want to look outside their window grinning to one's self knowing that the beauty in the driveway is theirs? Who hasn't gone into their garage just to stare?

That rationale simply does not work for me. The outside MUST excite me. Its almost like saying the girl next door is as good as Kate Upton in bed, if only you turn the lights out.
Yep! A sports car must excite all your senses!

Who said Kate was good in bed? lol

Check out this custom green color, Python Green Chromaflair, 97K. Considering this ultra special color 11K seems almost reasonable.

There's an Ultra-Limited $97,000 Paint Option Available for the Porsche 911 Turbo S - The Drive
I think 97K is beyond reasonable and bordering on ludicrous.
Have you seen the pricing for Ferrari custom painting? They start at ludicrous and go up from there.

Sure Porsche charging $11,000 USD is quite steep. And more than they have recently. However, it's probably not that outrageous for a custom factory paint job that can be traced to its VIN.

...am in complete agreement. In addition to driving my "baby", I love to just look at her, be it parked in my garage, outside...anywhere! I am a bit confused though. Is the $11,000 for a "paint to match"? That figure seems nearly twice the amount when I configured a discontinued color not too long ago...

This is, pure and simple, supply and demand at work.

PTS has gained in popularity in recent years for a variety of reasons that range from the number of manufacturers offering it (it's increased significantly in the last 10-15 years, especially among non-premium marques and lower-level models) and the faster turnover of automotive trends (particularly among the rich and young who buy cars such as Porsches as status symbols) to the rise of wrapping as a legitimate option (some carmakers feel a need to compete with that) and the desire for a truly custom vehicle among socioeconomic groups who traditionally didn't care much about it (example: upper-class females.)

More demand means the price goes up. Simple as that.

Loved both the Graphite Blue Metallic and Sapphire Blue Metallic offered just a few years ago. Wondering; does Porsche consider them paint to sample colors now? I mean, in the strictest sense, they're really not custom sample colors. Thanks.
