LC every once in a while will not void the warranty.


The PDK clutch fluid needs changing every 6 years/60K miles and the PDK transmission oil every 12 years/120K miles. From that maintenance schedule I'd say PDK is designed to last for the life of the car. And it better because replacing it will run you well north of $20K. It cannot be repaired.

I would dive into some of the larger, broader Porsche-centric forums (rennlist, planet 9, 6speedonline) to get some info about PDK longevity. It's been around since the 2009 model year, so there's going to be limited info on longevity.

That said, from everything I've read, the PDK is generally regarded as the best and most reliable DCT-type transmission made at any price point.

Also: LC wouldn't be on the car if it weren't meant to be used regularly. However, Porsche has specific recommendations about when and how often an owner should use it in the Owner's Manual and the Porsche Good to Know app. Rather than rely on us, I'd read what Porsche has to say about LC first.

Well! I've hexed myself.
Today I got the "No R Gear Trans Fault poss to drive on". Drove on it, could only get gears 1,3,5, 7.

Tried to restart and the fault kept reappearing. Car is being recovered to Porsche Centre Silverstone tomorrow.

Cars a 17 23,000 miles so well under warranty, lets see what happens.....

I don't understand how it can be built and not repaired. I can understand that Porsche may not make repair parts for it but I can see potential for a PDK repair business.

ok technically everything can be repaired. Problem with the PDK is that Porsche purchases them directly from the supplier as one complete unit. They don't sell PDK parts individually to shops. So anything more serious then topping off or replacing fluids is just not done really. Since it's not done very few people would actually know how to successfully diagnose and repair a PDK. Generally PDK repair I think is not a niche that will be filled. The quantity of broken PDK is just not there to make it a profitable business.
