Hey Everyone,

Atlanta area guy here. Pretty active on the 2Addicts forum. Been hanging around the 718 forum since August after driving a base Cayman from Turo in the mountains East of San Diego for a couple of hours. I was hooked! Originally planned to go the new Cayman GTS route in a couple of years, but decided I couldn't wait. Started looking seriously online the last few weeks at CPO Cayman S cars, always one call behind, but this week locked in on one! Headed to Chicago on Friday to pick it up and drive it home. Super excited! Here is the build:

BASE - 718 Cayman S
0Q - White
220 - Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV)
433 - 20" Carrera S Wheels
446 - Wheel center caps with colored Porsche Crest
475 - Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM)
480 - Manual transmission
497 - Rear Model Designation Painted
581 - Luggage net in passenger footwell
583 - Smoking package
603 - Bi-Xenon Headlights incl. Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS)
980 - Leather Package
9VL - Bose® Surround Sound System
CAS - Model designation on doors in Black
CUC - Model Designation Painted
P06 - Power Sport Seats (14-way) with Memory Package
P9B - Premium Package (Sport Seats, 14-way)
PM - Leather Package in Black/Bordeaux Red
XDK - Wheels Painted in Black Satin
XLX - Sport Exhaust System incl. Sport Tailpipes in Black
XSC - Porsche Crest on headrests
XUB - Headlight Cleaning System Covers in Exterior Color

Its got about 5600 miles on it and is super clean!

Nice spec, worth the wait - that will be a beautiful car! Send pics when it arrives
Thanks! Will do.

Spec looks great

Are you driving the car from Chicago to SAN Diego or Atlanta, both are very long drives. What a great way to get acquainted with the car

Enjoy
Driving back down to Atlanta. Should be about 12 hours and looking forward to it! I suppose I'll learn real quick how comfortable the car is.

Very nice specs. I bought two Caymans as CPOs. My Cayman R had 5,800 miles on it and my 2014 Cayman had about 5,600 miles on it. I had 0 issues with them. My last two have been ordered.....2016 981 Base and 2019 718 Base. You will never look back............

Hah! Yet another 2Addict making the switch. Noice! :D

Welcome, sir. (I behave myself a little more over here. >:D )

Some friendly advice: Be careful driving that car from Chicago if the weather's close to freezing -- and double that warning if it's in the least bit wet. I'm sure you know that the summer tires that come on 718s aren't supposed to be driven on in temps below 40 degrees or so. (Case in point: I walked to work today and left the Cayman at home. Temps in Dallas are in the mid-30s.

Let us all know when you get it back to the 404!

What, you behaving badly, say it isn't so! ;)

Thank you! The weather is looking good for the trip, so looking forward to it! I'll report back afterward.

I came somewhat close to buying that one when it was at Porsche St Louis in November, but ended up ordering a new one with similar spec. Mind to tell us what you paid?
It really is a small market for these cars! It was listed at $65k and they wouldn't budge below $64.5k. Do you remember what it was listed for then? Might be useful to others as a point of reference as asking prices seem to have a linear decrease over time.

Very nice spec for car. Enjoy the drive home.
Thank you Sir!

That is great to hear! The CPO route provides a significant savings that is hard to ignore, but can be hard to find what you want.

Congrats sir! I've been keeping a close eye on CPO 718 Cayman base prices for months now and recently switched my attention to 718 Cayman S listings thanks to a nice salary bump. The car you bought has been showing up on my monitors for the past week :)

I'd post the direct link via Porsche's inventory search, but my post count is too low. Enjoy your beautiful new Cayman!

To answer the OP’s question on pricing... it was at 65,995 at StL. They came down to $65k, but it was not my exact spec (I didn’t want 20” wheels, or black wheels), so I told them it’d need to be lower vs ordering new for me. They said they were going to wholesale it and I told them to please proceed. This is the 2nd time I almost bought something at StL and it ended up in Napleton in Chicago, btw.

As history, the sales guy told me it was in great shape and was owned/traded locally to a guy that bought a new 911 from them, and that he takes good care of his Porsches.

I also have a nice video he texted me of a walk around he did. If you want to PM me I’ll text it to you to hold you til the 4th.

Great info, thanks! The DME report looked like the computer wasn't turned on when they captured the data, so I don't doubt it was maintained well. I'll PM you.

Curious how everything went and your opinion since pickup?
The pick-up went smoothly at Napleton Westmont. The car looked more beautiful in person. I installed some Xpel Tracwrap at the dealer on the bumper, headlights and first third of the hood for the drive to reduce the risk of stone chips. Not the prettiest install, but it served its purpose.

I hit the road about 2pm on Friday the 4th and made it just south of Louisville that night. Got to experience driving the car in heavy rain at times and she felt great. Hit the road the next morning about 10am, letting it heat up a bit and the whole day offered clear skies. I took mostly backroads down through Chattanooga and it was a blast! I thoroughly enjoyed that part of the drive and it really made the effort worth it. Got home about 5pm that evening and gave her a quick wash before putting her to bed.

I haven't done much driving since spending last weekend prepping the car for a PPF and tint install scheduled for Monday doing a minor paint correction and paint sealant application. Here are some pics right after install in the shop.

I hope to do some driving this weekend if the weather cooperates!
