Hi everyone,

I shall be buying my 718 when I retire next spring but already looking and learning from some of the excellent posts on this forum.
I will be buying either the “S” or the base Cayman.
No chance of using it on a track (my wife won’t let me!) so it will be used exclusively on our wonderfully pot-holed UK roads.
Great to be able to join such a group of enthusiasts as yourselves!

Welcome to the forum. As part of your hunt you should take the opportunity to frequent the Porsche dealerships and test drive all the different models so you're well prepared to choose the car that suits you best. Good luck on your quest!

Welcome and congratulations on your upcoming retirement and 718 purchase!

Per @Porsche2018 definitely test drive as many variations as possible. Although I knew I wanted a Cayman with 6MT and was pretty much set on the options from many hours on the configurator, my spouse and I drove Cayman and Boxster variants with 6MT, PDK, S and base, and so forth. We also tried the 14-way and 18-way as well as 2-way seats. Good luck and have fun shopping!

Hi Porsche2018 and ArchiProf,

Thank you for your kind welcome. Your suggestions sound like good advice already!

We have sat in many Porsche’s in the showrooms and keep returning to the 718, which - to us - just feels right.

I went to the PEC at Silverstone last year, driving the base Cayman and felt something of a “learner”. Clearly, I have lots to learn!
