I took delivery of a sapphire blue 2018 Boxster S pdk last August and have driven it all of 1200 miles. Really enjoy the car and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by some things which I thought would be negatives:
-my previous car was a Mercedes SLK hardtop convertible. Never owned a soft top but I’m surprised that it’s almost as quiet as the SLK with the top up.
-when I first test drove a Boxster several years ago, the ride seemed very rough and harsh. It is much smoother on my 718.
-i was concerned about side and rear visibility with the top up. The car I test drove had very limited visibility. I’m not sure if they repositioned the side mirrors or how to explain it but visibility on my car is pretty good and I have no problem changing lanes in traffic.
-The first time I went to the grocery store, I bought so much that I was worried about whether I could get all those bags home. Turns out they all fit in the frunk with room to spare. That thing is deceptively big because its so deep.
-compared to my other car (a Mercedes sedan), controls on the Boxster are straightforward and intuitive (of course Mercedes makes a special effort to make their controls as obscure as possible).
-I just love the sapphire blue color. I was planning to wait and buy a 2019 model...until Porsche announced they were discontinuing the color.
-I’ve been fortunate not to have any issues/problems with the car (knock on wood).
Overall, I’m obviously a happy camper and the things I considered potential negatives are not.
