It's been covered ad nauseam, in this and other Porsche forums, but I couldn't help but contribute the solution I found for mounting the front plate to my GTS.
If you're (un)lucky enough to be in a state requiring front plates, you have three options:

1. Ignore it: Do you feel lucky? Fine amounts vary from state to state and don't necessarily require you to be moving to receive one. Delivery stories are abound from parking meter maids/butlers to at-home / in-driveway service. I got away with it for about 2 weeks in my Lexus RC, when I happened to drive by the same officer directing traffic in a construction zone two days in a row. Needless to say, he saw me too. and waved me over. Fortunately, I had the pre-mounted plate in my trunk and he let me off with a warning, and I installed it that evening. I didn't see him on the third day, but I knew he was somewhere watching out for me. :nerd:

2. Have the dealership install it: Some don't give you an option and may install at the time of purchase or when your new plates arrive. A good dealer will ask you first, as my Lexus did, and may have you sign something stating that you were informed about the requirement, so you can't go back and challenge the fine with, "The dealer forgot to install". In my experience however, they have done a pretty decent job of installation. So if you have to have holes drilled, better to have them do it.

3. Custom solution: Most owners of your higher-end sports cars will opt for this one. Dozens of options are available to literally fit your style and aesthetic preference.

I went with number 3, but by no means take any credit for the discovery of this solution. That goes to someone on a different forum/board that I came across in my research.

It's called a, "Universal Front License Plate Bracket" from Craig's Custom Mustang Brackets (not yet allowed to provide a link, but a simple search should land you in the right place). Also, I am not advertising for them, I'm simply a satisfied customer.
This is specifically for Mustangs, but us Porsche owners benefit from the "Universal" designation. Installation is pretty straight forward and there are excellent instructions included with all the items for prepping the mounting area. I can tell you that I am so happy with this solution. I think it looks great and certainly is solid! The adhesion is very strong and there is no vibration or noise coming from the mount while driving (that I can detect). There are similar plate mounts that have this basic geometry in variations, but at $50, I found this to be perfect for my GTS!

I've included the manufacturer's product photo, as well as my in-process and final photos (note: the only reason I'm not showing my plate is I'm waiting on the personalized ones to arrive - happy to share when they do). :D
Hope this has been helpful. Let me know if you all have any questions. Until my next mod... safe driving!

Just stumbled across this post. I have this bracket on my GT350. A friend has it on his GT350 as well, but I should say had. His fell off. Mine is still in place, but I can't help but be concerned about the long term viability of the adhesive. Also, the frame is light and flexible enough to push against the bumper cover at high speeds and regardless of the rubber protectors on the bolt heads, the vibration and rubbing against the paint will eventually mar the paint at the very least.

...some of you know my opinion on the subject. Drill away with a nice factory mount, pay the few extra bucks for one of your States specialty plates, and add a unique vanity word or phrase. I've adapted after many years of living in various two plate States and sleep quite well at night. It doesn't look bad to me and makes a statement with a proper vanity plate. And resale value will not be affected, especially since you already live in a two plate State or region. Even if you choose to sell out of region, when someone is shopping for your optioned up, well cared for car, a front mount won't be a factor either. Regarding some of these drill free etc., alternatives,
I've heard similar stories of plates/brackets flying off at high speed. Talk about dangerous, especially when I'm on my motorcycle. Adhesive for a plate frame? Really....?

I agree. I'm lazy and a horrible procrastinator, so my plate and the holder are still in the frunk. The dealer gave me a handful of the mounting screws, I just have to get around to mounting it. I have a few questions. How many screws did you use to mount the bracket? Two or four? Also, did you actually predrill the holes or let them tap themselves?

...I'm pretty handy but I've always left that up to the dealer since it was never an issue with me. Most of my brackets (on my other cars) utilize two screws for the bracket and two to attach the plate to the bracket. My advise, take it back to the dealership. There shouldn't be a charge and I'd like to think they'd fit it properly for you...?

...ouch..not quite...
You haven’t seen Marathon Man with Dustin Hoffman when he was young? All I have to do is ask my brother in law “is it safe?” And he will wince lol.
...trust me, I'm familiar with all dentally related movies, comedy acts etc. One of the best comedy routines was by Tim Conway and Harvey Korman, on the Carol Burnett show. So yes, well aware of the Marathon man and an extremely young Dustin Hoffman. Hurts my teeth just looking at the picture...?

I have opposite problem. Bought car out of state. Dealer mounted front plate with dealer logo tag. I live in a state where no front plate is required. Removed dealer installed plate and am left with two holes to plug. Currently shopping for graphite blue bumper plugs. Nice.

I've been lurking for a little bit while reading up on the 718. Thought I'd chime in - I made a custom magnetic plate holder using the stock plate on my M4. I took 2 mini paint containers (the ones kids use for painting and stuck them to the back of the licence plate, securing them with epoxy until it solidified. Then stuck 2 rare earth magnets in the paint holders with a piece of cotton in each to prevent it from rattling around. Then removed my bumper and epoxied 2 more on the inside of it. Lightweight, secure, and no drilling - you just have to be comfortable with your ability to remove and re-install body parts :p

I had a sto and sho plate bracket on my gt 350. I looked and they have one for the last gen cayman , but not the new 718 models. It bolts under the front of the car , to the area just beyond the spoiler lip . back a few inches . You can just pull a pin and remove it. .It worked great. Im sure they are going to make one for 718 soon. If not I'm sure you could modify it to fit our cars. My dealer said they don't put the plate bracket on . They leave to the owners to do. Im glad
