Following the pricing release of Porsche’s 718 Cayman is a video of two Caymans roaring down the city streets.

Cayman enthusiasts may be mourning the loss of its predecessor’s naturally aspirated flat-six engine but in place of that is a more powerful 2.0-liter flat-4 turbo and it still has an angry exhaust note.

Similar to the 718 Boxster, the Cayman features a turbocharger with variable turbine geometry (VTG) which was until recently, only available in the 911 Turbo. With the VTG and PDK package, drivers can now accelerate from 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds and if you decide to go with the S model, that time is cut down to 4.2 seconds. Also, the base model’s top speed is rated at 170mph and 177mph for the 718 Cayman S.

Changes have been made to the chassis as well with retuned suspension, widened rear wheels for more lateral grip, larger brakes, 10% quicker steering rack, and a few optional packages are available for more performance depending on your preference. The interior cabin is identical to the 718 Boxster’s including the ‘918 Spyder’ steering wheel.

The 718 Cayman is now open for ordering in the UK with a starting price of £39,878 for the base model and £48,834 for the S model. Give it a chance, the sound may just grow on you.

Roaring through the city... sounding like a Subaru. Already I can see Subaru owners rolling up to us at the red light and congratulating us on picking up the new Subaru sportscar. I have a feeling this might eventually lead some Porsche loyalists to stick with the last Cayman/Boxster generation, since it's more Porsche-like.
