Porsche 718 Cayman Spied In Italy

Spotted 30km away from the Nardò technical center owned by Volkswagen is a 718 Cayman in what is probably its final testing phase. The Spy shots were recently posted by INDAV Design on their Facebook page and its front facia looks very similar to that of the 2016 Porsche 718 Boxster’s.

Porsche’s fixed-roof brother to the 718 Boxster borrowed a few styling features including the new lights all around the body, front and rear bumpers, and side air vents. We can also expect an updated interior with a new infotainment system.



What we don’t know is if Porsche will stick with the flat-six engine for the new Cayman or transition it into a more fuel efficient and powerful vehicle with the new four-cylinder turbocharged engines. Once revealed, the model range could be similar to the Boxster’s with a 296hp 2.0-litre flat-four in the base model and a 345hp 2.5-litre engine for the more powerful S Models.

For all you purists out there raging against the new turbo engine, calm down. Porsche is likely to stick with the natural aspirated flat-six in their next Cayman GT4 to keep you guys around.

Also not confirmed but, Porsche’s new 718 Cayman could be more affordable than the 718 Boxster which has a base model price of $57,050 and $69,450 for the S model.
