In my introduction post, I described my Porsche Lust.

I'm pleased to say we have come to an agreement on a deal with our dealer, and put down our deposit yesterday for a Cayman GTS! We are on our way once we get an allocation (dealership doesn't have any GTS allocations currently, next round of allocations will come in November, and he's going to see if he can find one at another dealer and "trade").

I'm already planning a "break-in" road trip. I thought 1,000 miles on my RS 3 was torturous enough. 2,000 miles? Under 4k rpm? Yeabut!!! :crying:

Love the spec, I've got a manual and took my mate out in it last week. He owns a C63S and couldn't believe how powerful mine was, but mostly he was blown away by the handling, we went for a drive around the country roads near me and it was a different story in his car, especially on the corners. The manual is a lot of fun. For me keeping it in gear longer than I should and downshifting before a corner are little pleasures that make every journey that bit more involving. Hope the wait passes quickly! Always loved racing yellow, will be worth the wait

Firstly congratulations but regarding the break-in Porsche has decreased the stringent requirements for break-in for at least the GT3-RS and GT3. It states now (see attached jpg) 1K miles for break-in and keeping it under 7K rpms. Now it still may be the same for the 718 with 2K miles/4k rpms but if someone could check the 2019/718 manual it would be interesting to see if the break-in requirements have been relaxed.

Nice spec! In many ways it is like my current Megane RS 265 Cup - Yellow and black! Personally we would differ on the interior trim in exterior colour (this is a really bold choice!) and Porsche crests on both the seats and centre console; I would pick one or the other, but not both. Wheels on my current car are also Matt Black, which goes so well with yellow paint. So while i'm not keen on black wheels for my next car/Cayman I think they make sense on your build.

Also, as per Nick Murray, you can buy the aluminium look fuel cap cheaper form Porsche parts so rather buy it that way.

Be careful about "road trip run-in" as extended periods of constant rpm are also a no-no.

With my PDK I was never frustrated at having to stay under 170 kph.:)
Haha, no so much about top speed in the highest gear, but rather how quickly you get to speed! ;)

On past cars, I've usually occasionally changed gears if I'm doing a constant speed, in order to vary the engine RPM

I just saw that in your other thread as well, according to the online manual, it still states 2000, but it may not be updated yet. We can hope anyway. Anyone with a 2019 718 manual in hand to look?

I actually don't care for the black wheels. I think they're over-done these days (at least in the US). Under the "wheel accessories" section, I'm opting to have them painted in Satin Platinum. And I always like having my sporty cars being bright colors. Both my current Audis (RS5, and RS3) are bright blues (Sepang blue, and Ara blue, respectively)!

I looked at getting the fuel cap afterward, on the build it's $160, from porsche parts, it was $184 as of last night. Just looked at Suncoast, they have it for $150. With shipping, I wouldn't really be saving anything. I originally actually wasn't even going to get it at all. I mean, I know $160 is chump change in "Porsche Money," but it's still $160! That could be a fairly nice dinner, or a full tank of race gas!! Not to mention that nobody would ever even see it. But then my SA showed me the standard cap, and then another car that had the "aluminum look" cap. He has it on his, and says he smiles every time he fills up with gas. lol

And you may be right regarding the Porsche crests. I'll have to consider that. I'd like "GTS" embroidered on the headrests, but since as best as I could tell, that's only available with the GTS interior package, which I don't want (I want ventilated seats, ergo leather seats). Maybe it's something my SA could do on his end though through the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur program

All valid points and I can see that, like me, you've done your homework. The black wheels on the GTS will probably be the reason I opt for an S instead of the GTS. Ultimately I can spec an S exactly how I want it and save some money! I also love my blues - my last car was a Le Mans Blue BMW. This time around i'm thinking Miami Blue with the silver Carrera S wheels.

I had a 2017 c63s coupe that I traded in on a 2018 GTS and was a little worried that I would miss the horsepower but I think the GTS puts the power down so well that it is faster then the c63s. It in not even close when it comes to the handling and that it what is most important to me. I like nothing better then hitting the back roads and the cayman does back roads as well as any car that I have driven. The way the car turns amazes me every time. For the money I do not think there is another car that can touch its driving experience. I just passed 2000 miles this weekend and took it to Angeles Crest Hwy for its first time and the car performed even better then I imagined. It is almost too easy to drive it at speeds that the AMG could not even come close to. Needless to say I am very happy with my purchase.

Something to note. I did not order my spec. I bought one that was on the lot. It came with the 20mm PASM and I was worried about scraping as it is my daily driver. Well I was right to worry, I do scrape the front all the time. But I am so glad I got the 20mm PASM because it looks and feels more special. Heck the front piece is just plastic. If having to replace it every so often is the price to pay. Take my money.

I finally have an allocation! :D

Allegedly a January 2019 build, and early February 2019 delivery.

I had my SA look into getting GTS embroidered in the headrests outside of the GTS interior package, and they would do it, but only if I got the full leather interior. I opted against that, so I'll be doing the Porsche crests on the headrests, and nothing on the center arm rest.
