Hi all
Just about to take delivery of my CGTS
And have a couple of insurance options
The one through the PCGB requires me to have a tracker at just over £230 a year
Or I can go with privilege for the same sort of money without a tracker but
No guaranteed value etc

Any suggestions for uk insurance ?

Exciting times. Over on the Macan forum ppl are raving about NFU Mutual. It's location (rural) dependent but it includes 2 or 3 years of GAP insurance. I've got my insurance through Aviva. They too require a tracker. I've used them for my Macan as well and well and I've found them pretty good to deal with.

Enjoy the pick up and keep us posted. It didn't happen without pictures....

I am with Hastings direct at a very competitive quote and no requirement for a tracker - through compare the market

as you indicate the annual subscription to PVTS is very heavy imo

I JUST qualified for SAGA Car Insurance. (Don’t laugh or take the piss!)
Great price, no tracker required. (only “Sheila’s Wheels” was cheaper)
You also get new for old for first 2 years of ownership should the car be stolen or written off. So no “Gap insurance” needed.
Plus wife does not have to be a named driver. If I’m unable to drive the car home for any medical reason then anyone else is covered to drive the car home for me.

Oh and I got some free Geraniums as a welcome gift.... now you can take the piss!

For those of you unfamiliar with SAGA you have to be over 50 years to get it. Insurance for OAP’s
(Great to finally be able to afford the car of your dreams only to realise that your now officially an Old Fart !! )

Be careful with Saga anyone. They're not the underwriters, just the broker using Axa or someone. I got a good deal on my last 718 from Saga instead of renewing with Aviva, who increased the premium dramatically. But when I upgraded after 2 months to an older and only slightly more expensive 911, the Saga premium quadrupled. I cancelled to go back with Aviva as a new business customer and got virtually no refund for 10 months from Saga because of the huge admin fee to cancel and non-refundable broker fee as part of the initial premium.

Interestingly, the new business premium from Aviva was half of that for my previous Aviva renewal quote for the 718. So much for loyalty, reckon you need to change to a new business premium every year!

Aviva did insist on the £235 pa tracker though, still much less combined than the Saga premium without. I shan't renew again with anyone demanding the tracker, which is a pain in the ass. You've got to remember to take the biggish fob out with you every time you drive the car or they phone you that it's been stolen. And you're not supposed to have it attached to your key (defeats the object if someone steals both). Not that you can fit it to your keyring unless you have it in an attachable pouch. I found a nice compact one courtesy of Malcolm E Cay on this forum 9many thanks) and it's actually very attractive and good quality, taking not much more space than the fob itself. It's still just one more thing to have to take with you though along with wallet, phone, sunglasses, tobacco, lighter, etc, etc. Need a man bag in the summer when insufficient pockets!

My tracker fob (and pouch) is on my house key ring which is not connected to my car key ring. That said my key is colour coded and has it's own pouch so nothing else can be attached to it.

After buying a £50K+ very desirable car why would you want to scrimp on a £230 tracker system?

Because Malcolm, my car does about 4K per annum, never goes anywhere rough, is garaged nightly and lives in rural Lincolnshire, where they only steal tractors! Also, as aforementioned, the less clutter I have to take out with me the better. Batteries went the other day by the way, phone call, mucho grief. Love the pouch though, thanks.

With regards to the tracker fob, I've always just modded them to fit on a key/track pass lanyard & then just carry the fob around my neck. It's strange in that if you prise the two halves apart you can see it appears that the fob was originally designed to have a slot at the top in a part that's sectioned off from the electronics board. It's extremely easy to then open up a slot as it's actually marked for one. You have to do both halves of the case, but it's extremely soft plastic & unlikely to tax even the most ham fisted of individuals. I did it with my first Porsche tracker fobs & I've been doing so ever since with absolutely no problems.

And I can track the location of my car for free using the Porsche car connect app for free for the first year
Without paying for the PVTS
My free first years just coming to an end, I think Vodafone wanted £90 for the continued use of the app.

App was on my wife’s iPhone she could see where I was in the car.

As I’ve also now got an iPhone she can track me when I’m not in the car.

The joy of tracking devices.

As I found out when replaced batteries. Not sure about lanyard, bet you use the porsche one from silverstone experience. Glad to see you're still monitoring forum Chilli. By the way, Dr Colourchip worked well after third attempt. Fine balance between rubbing solution to remove paint residue outside chip and actually removing from inside chip.

Just as well you didn't bet money on it. I also keep a ring on it to clip my keys to before I lock them away. Glad the Dr Colourchip worked, I personally find it much easier to get a good result.
