I'm finding PorscheBoost a really interesting forum for gaining insight into the new turbo engine architecture (B4/B6) in 718 and 911 lines -- even though most posts focus on the latter. This is the place to get the latest on tuner ECU flashes and power kits for the new turbos.

We've speculated around here on true power versus factory ratings for the 982. No surprise, the same issue applies to the 991.2 engines... kinda cool to see our discussion mirrored in the Carrera world.
PorscheBoost - The change from the 991.1 generation Carrera naturally aspirated flat-6 to the 991.2 gen turbo flat-6 is the largest power gain for a Carrera in Porsche history

So the 718 could possible see a huge boost with just a tune?
First off, the 2.0 is way more than 300hp from the factory. The Fabspeed dyno baseline in post #11 of this thread measures 281rwhp which works out to around 330 crank hp. Caveat: that's a DynoJet unit, considered 'optimistic' as compared to a Mustang dyno -- although there is variation in every unit and ultimately it depends on how accurately a particular dyno is calibrated.

So the check I use is to compare to a recent Porsche (pre-turbo) with factory-rated hp close to our 'predicted' 718 figure, with same PDK and similar weight. For a 330hp base 718, the 981 GTS rated at 340 factory hp provides a good comparison (a bit lighter, torque dead even). With the turbo showing slightly quicker real-world speed at all distances, that tells me it is indeed in the range 330-350hp. For a double-check, here is the base 718 compared to a previous generation base 911 Carrerra of 345hp.

Now you have to consider tuner's claims for enhanced power against a true baseline of 330-350hp. The 2.0 is already running fairly high boost (around Carrera GTS level), so any big increase is likely to come with a turbo upgrade, and I haven't seen any such offered for the 2.0. But if you read the PorscheBoost blogs, there is work being done on fitting the larger Carrera GTS turbo to *both* the S and base models, however these are all the exact same 3.0 engine architecture. I think a similar tune-plus-turbo-upgrade seems less feasible for the 718 base model, esp. as the next-larger turbo in the 718 line is the 64mm VTG of the S (the Carrera turbos are all non-VTG).

Hopefully though, limited prospects (I think) for tuner software-only flashes yielding huge upgrades in *true* power for the base 718 are offset by the recognition that your factory stock 2.0 is already quicker than a 981 GTS or as quick as a 991.1 Carrera.

A colleague of mine just bought a base 718 Cayman. He just showed me the dyno sheet on a Mustang Dyno base pull. He also just got it tuned. I will try to create a new post once I have him email the base and tuned pulls. I drove his car before and after... It's DEFINITELY noticeable!
