Being completely new to my 718, I was caught off guard by the sound of the cooling fans still running after shutting off the car. It makes sense, given the engine configuration, but does anyone know if that same cool down process also keeps circulating oil through the turbo? Do these things have factory turbo timers? Thanks.

Good idea... wail through the canyon and then cruise gently home through town! Though it would be trick if the oil continued circulating through the turbo for cooling for a little while after shutdown...

I open the hoods on my other cars that have hoods over the engine after driving them to aid in heat removal. With my Boxster S & Cayman 718 I set box fans aimed at the side radiators if the those fans are running. High heat is rough on rubber hoses etc..

I have had my car for a couple of weeks and have put 600 miles on the odometer. My fans have not yet come on. Is that normal?
So your saying after you go for a drive the cooling fans are not running that you can hear when you exit the vehicle? My Porsche engine fans always run even after I just move the car a short distance and then turn off the engine.

I drove the car 350+ miles yesterday, on the highway. The fans did come on, during my 2 stops. They are fairly quite, so maybe I had never noticed them before.

(Side note- I switched between 5th and 6th gears, as to keep the motor from being at the same rpm for long periods, as recommended during the break-in....anal, I know:nerd:)

My fan is quite audible when I stop and hard to miss. Glad to hear the fan is doing it's intended job.

I also varied the RPMs......I wanted to follow the break-in recommendations pretty closely but as I am sure you have gleaned there are many differing opinions on this matter.
