Hi Everyone,

I’m looking for something to eventually replace my
2007 BMW 335i (6spd, Quaife LSD, M performance suspension with M3 control arms, short shift kit, 18” PS4S, MHD Stage 1 tune). I’m looking for a fun, great steering/handling car that is fast enough (not slower than the BMW) and has a touch of luxury. I don’t need back seats and I don’t really want a convertible. I love the BMW especially as it is now setup, but its 12 years old and I’m looking for something new. I think the Cayman may be the answer. Have configured it a hundred times, watched all the YouTube videos and now finally went for a drive.

I wrote a longer post about a test drive impressions but I think it was eaten by a moderator, so I’ll just start by saying hello.

Welcome.

IMO, If you’ve never bought a Porsche before, you run the risk of leaving something out that you just assume would be included with a premium brand car. Get some help. Don’t assume just because you paid some outrageous price for the car it has ____ (fill in the blank).

Yes, adding the LSD changed the car and it is something I would not give up, at least in my current car. The Cayman S I drove did not have the PTV and maybe that is why I didn’t get quite the feeling I expected. The traction control flashed several times during my test drive.

We also had an E9x 335i as a daily. Great cars.

A CGTS will be a massive jump from the 335i with PASM-S, PTV (LSD) and additional hp/torque as standard. Looks like you will want a manual but certainly consider the PDK.

I'd say an S with PTV and PASM would be a sufficient step up from an E9x 335i.

I have had my CGTS for 8 months and done 7000 miles so far

I replaced a 991 Carrera s with the CGTS - great move

if you can afford the CGTS buy it as all the handling toys like PTV come as standard
