Well, finally had a day above 50 F degrees and had to take my car to the detailer to get a wash and inspection now that the Ceramic Pro has cured. Thought I'd take Carmen the Cayman out for a nice 43-mile back-roads jaunt afterwards.
The enjoyment of this car in the curves and its acceleration is transfixing. But I've discovered an issue somewhere between the seat and the steering wheel. Bottom line is I keep looking down and seeing that I'm exceeding 80 mph. It happened a few times on the bigger, newer patches of road, and I really only did it about two times (maybe a third time but I couldn't bring myself to look at anything but the RPMs, which I'm keeping under 4K). One time I was transitioning from a really rural road onto a bigger, newer 55 mph highway, and I went into a 90 degree turn in third gear and was at about 3K RPMs instantaneously, I shift up to fourth and the next thing I know, I'm near 3-4K RPMs again, so of course, I shifted up to fifth, and the same **** thing happened! So I just went to sixth and looked down. 80 mph.
The next time was not quite so weird. I turned from that nice road onto another one just like it, but more sparsely populated. The car in front of me wandered over to the right lane and inspiration struck and I ran it through the gears again, but gently! Same result!
I suspect the cost of group therapy would be less than the ticket that surely looms before me one day. Is there a 12-step program for this?
