So, I keep hearing 'rumours' that there are some delays with the 718 GT4 and Spyder builds and delivery... Official Porsche reports would be best but I will take the rumours at this point!

Any one get any information from their SA?

Hmmmm, just read on Rennlist that orders are being pushed out, delays but no official word from the dealers or Porsche themselves as to why... :(
Pushed out? Do you mean delays (pushed back) or orders succeeding (pushed out to customers)?

They are saying delays, orders due to lock within the week are not scheduled to lock until February 2020, deliveries not expected until summer... I don't understand why Porsche allows uncertainly to creep in to this process, if there is a delay they should come out in front and own it, explain why and offer a target resolution date.

I see by your signature you too are waiting on a 2020 Cayman, is yours's locked with a commission number?

Perhaps not related but my GTS order has had it's spec lock date shifted 6 times now. Was to have locked on the 04th of Oct and kept moving. Last week I was given a date of the 06th of Nov and yesterday it's moved again to the 11th. Not sure I'd have the patience to wait for a car in the Spring!

I've heard that they can't make Taycans fast enough! They have a big backlog, and every Taycan is worth two Caymans and change...
So you think that they are bumping the 718's in favour of the Taycan? I thought these assembly lines were specific, sure built along side but everything I have seen the Taycan wouldn't be in the 'same' line...

It's been some time ago, but there was something about needing to move one production line (possibly the ICE cars) out to a different factory, so that they can build more Taycans. I hope that another forum member has better memory than I do...

Yeah, I put deposit down (search forum for my post) in April. Got it returned in September. Went to Germany, did factory tour. They are making Taycans, Boxsters, 911s, 718 GT4s / Spyders in Zuffenhausen. I asked my tour guide about production delays. Caymans are being made in Osnabrück. My sales guy said he could not even select a 718 outside of the GT4 / Spyder in his system in September. Maybe in a month or so orders for that will be available?

I wanted to drive alpine passes while in Germany / Swiss for a friend's bday group thing in Sept but couldn't get the order done. So, I guess I will aim for a 718 and still do Euro Delivery next spring / summer. May/June would be ideal. Man, waiting for getting a build slot has taken so long, then to do Euro Delivery I'd want to wait until spring / summer for best driving weather. Then wait for it to ship to the States. UGH!! o_O

So yeah, nothing locked! ;)

A friend in the East Coast ordered a Cayenne e-Hybrid last year and was supposed to take delivery before the end of 2018 but kept getting pushed back without an explanation. He cancelled his order mid-2019 because delivery was nowhere in sight.

I think the new WLTP emissions requirements have caused havoc for a lot of OEM's: Delayed deliveries, delayed launches, slower "new" models (like Audi TT), etc.

I so much wanted to do a European delivery as well but had decided not to because of the timing and extra waiting time, and on top of that enjoy your car then wait 'again' for it to come back home... I wanted the car for this summer, driving a Porsche events like Parade so I had originally decided not to do European Delivery... With the prospect of a later delivery date, possible late summer I may just have to rethink this, let's see, late summer in Europe with the new Spyder... maybe this dream is back on the table!?

No way. Different production hall at the main site. The 718 / 911 production lines are completely segregated from the Taycan production process. I was at the factory in September. My 2 cents (which honestly is worth a lot less than that) is that they have identified an issue and are working on an engineering resolution before proceeding. It's a toss up between production delay cost and a recall / fix costings. If delaying output has the accountants excited.....

As mentioned in that vid, it came from Porsche Chester. They had two Miami Blue Spyder's sitting side by side out back, this being one. If I recall correctly, this was back in late Sept or very early Oct. Both looks amazing, IMHO.

Some deliveries have been made (or at least one):

I watched this video, amazing engine sound, yes the Miami Blue looks great too!

One thing I found a bit disconcerting was his burnout, I didn't see tire marks on the road and the smoke appeared to be coming from the back of the car like he was smoking the clutch!

Also during the burnout and while driving the car hard he has the engine bouncing off the rev limiter...
