I sometimes think about installing an after market exhaust. Like you I would prefer to keep the functionality of the exhaust button. Unfortunately my favorite exhaust is the Fabspeed turboback, but it gets rid of the exhaust valve. I believe Soul offers exhaust systems that keep the functionality of the button.

Just below this listing, for additional reading was a link for SOUL| 718 Exhaust and Downpipes. Sounds like that is for what you all are looking. They've garnered good reviews here, and they are forum members. Also, their equipment is actually warrantied for doing the things most people modify their cars to do (which apparently is not the case with Fabspeed)! I'm not a customer, but I've read about them from users of their products here.

Going with the Soul sport catalytic and downpipe will do more for you than changing the whole exhaust. It will change the tone some and give you a much more free flowing exhaust which will give you some performance gains. And that way you can keep the functionality of your PSE.

If I modify my exhaust, this will most likely be my choice.

Changing out the exhaust does not void the warranty, but be sure whoever you choose has a system that will not cause the CEL to come on (normally only happens when the cat is removed or upgraded). Also, kind of obvious, but don't expect Porsche to warrant the replacement exhaust system, nor will they repair under warranty any damage caused by said exhaust system (highly unlikely). Also, most folks tend to do a performance tune when installing performance exhaust, performance tunes will invalidate your warranty. Lastly, keep your old exhaust for when you go to sell your Porsche, the new owner might prefer that to the performance exhaust, or you yourself might get tired of it and want to switch back to factory. :)

Does anyone know if changing the exhaust in any way voids warranty?
Your dealership could try and deny claims related to (in their mind) your modifications. Doing an ECU Tune is not well received by any dealership usually. Every dealership is different - we have good relationships with some dealerships that will install our components as SOUL dealers - and others want nothing to do with mods. We recommend contacting your dealer for clarification, better safe than sorry.

We've sold dozens of our Sport Catalytic Converter Downpipes and the HJS HD 200 cell cats perform well enough to offer gains without throwing a CEL - so far we haven't had any negative feedback from customers or dealerships.
