While trying to find what differences of Cayman basic and Cayman S, I found a discussion on the extra price worth it for an "S" where they stated the "S" also has PTV as standard. I can only find where it states PTV is only available as an option plus must get PASM also. Can someone clear this up for me.
I have a 2017 Cayman S and neither is stated in the option list for my VIN#.

I have a 2018 Cayman S. PTV was an option.

With the PTV option, you also get a mechanical LSD, but the mechanism of torque vectoring is through the rear brakes.

So if you want a LSD, you must option the PTV. No way to get the LSD without PTV?

Correct. You must also spec PASM. No way to get PTV without PASM.

To the OP. As others have said PTV is not standard on the S. It is however standard on the T
