I know it had been discussed in the past and I think that I do understand what's the difference but just want to make sure about some things.
The sport response button gives you 20 seconds of sport+ mode. Is that correct? Meaning, if you are already in sport+ mode, this button will not do anything. Is that correct?

In some auto magazine's reviews, they said that the car can do x.x from zero to sixty and x.y (while y is smaller then x) with sport chrono. At first, for some reason, I thought that they are using the sport response button but now, if I got the above right, I think that they got better time because the "regular" sport button can only be in sport mode which is less aggressive then sport+. Is that correct?

On top of all the above, I read somewhere (not official), that the sport response button spools up the turbo. Is that correct? Does sport+ spools up the turbo when you move to that mode? Or maybe it is all BS?

Thanks!

According to The Chart, the Sport Response Button gives you the same settings as Sport+ for everything except the PDK, for which it provides a "Sport Response" setting:

27295

My instructor at PDE had me do launches in Sport+, and Sport+ with the Sport Response Button, suggesting that the latter would be fastest. We would assume, from The Chart, that would be due to a different Sport Response setting for the PDK.

I'm not sure what "spooling up" a turbo entails. I've very rarely used the Sport Response button, but I drive in Sport+ all the time. I just recently set my MFD to display boost pressure, and as others have discussed, one sees non-zero values earlier and more often in Sport+ than in Sport. But I can't tell you the effect of the button on this.

edited to take out the incorrect statement that a launch was conducted in Sport Mode.

I have hit the button several times in regular and sport modes. With trans In auto mode, when you hit the button, it’ll instantly drop to lowest available gear and it’s basically building 2-6psi it boost like all the time with my foot off the gas.

Driving in sport plus With trans in auto there are almost two strategies, when you are really driving hard, it basically behaves just like when sport response is pushed and is constantly building boost for instant response. The other mode i would compare to being a slightly more aggressive sport mode.

not much happens when you hit sport response with it in manual shift mode, no matter what drive mode you’re in. Really need to be in auto to take advantage of it

sport response button is basically a street race mode. Aka, somebody rolls up beside you on the highway and wants to give it a go and instead of you fiddling with modes and junk, you just push the button and floor it. Literally the “overtake” button.

Oh it's SOOO much more than that. (Your example is more fitting for Launch Control, which is another thing that's part of Sport Chrono).

For instance: The Sport Response button makes passing semis/tractors/grannies/etc. on a two-lane back road take 3-4 seconds instead of 5-6. It instantly places your car in its optimal speed mode - even the accelerator-pedal-to-the-floor gearshift kickdown doesn't do this. 'Overtake', as used above, is the more apt description for it - but it's also use-able for other situations, such as keeping the speed/performance mode spooled up around slower Interstate traffic and impressing kids in Jeeps. ;P

Last month I did a 300-mile-long trip on a two-lane road with plenty of traffic. I enjoyed like a kid overtaking them all with no effort at all. Sport Response helped a lot. I definitely felt a punchier response when flooring the throttle to overtake two trucks at the same time after pressing SR button. The performance almost reminded me of the time I did the exact same roadtrip on a Yamaha R6 bike.

What I meant to say in addition, was, have you tried it?
The only difference between sport+ and the Go fast button is that the pdk does not behaves the same.
I have no idea what differs, how it down shifts, or up shifts.
Could be so simple that in sport+ it will up shift a bit early if your not at wot but SR will not.

If it is faster, i dont think so.

I dont know what it does to where I can say it does x,y, and z but I know it’s insane. It’s much faster during that 20 seconds than if you are in sport plus mode. It might be a shot of boost or a downshift and a build of boost, I don’t know but the car is much quicker and responsive with that button hit during that 20 seconds. I’ve got a Cobb tuner and stage 1 tune so it might have something to do with that but it’s insane how quick it is when you hit that button.

It is the perfect road overtake button, it does seem to change the PDK program beyond Sport +, holding gears longer and blocking downshifts.
I don't use it often, but it is worth it when needed, keeping time on the other side of the road to a minimum......even though there is a risk of frightening the driver of the car being overtaken as this little 718 suddenly shoots past with a blare of exhaust & engine noise......

I used this button for the first time a week ago. Needless to say I needed to change my pants afterwards!!
The button seemed to have a serious impact on our BS. Haven't tried it yet on our GTS, but didn't think it would have much impact on the NA 4.0L with PDK. Now I'll have to test it on COTA's back straight....hopefully, it will propel the car faster around those pests "lollygagging" in our way.
