I've only got about 600 miles on the car, but I was getting a rattle from the back of the car, and it really seemed like it's from the privacy cover over the hatch area. Once it looked like that's what it was I stopped and tightened those two screw things. But they seem to keep working themselves loose. Anyone else had a problem with that area and is there a simple fix I'm missing?

I had that noise and thought it might be the privacy cover, as well. I, too, screwed it in tighter, to no avail. Then I adjusted the stops on the hatch, itself. By extending them outward a few turns, the rattle went away.

So the stops that literally touch when the hatch is closed and that are on the hatch, or something else?

The rubber stops that are on the underside of the hatch at the lower left and right corners. It you twist in one direction they get shorter. If you twist in the other direction, they get taller. To make the rattle go away I made them both taller. If you make them too tall then the hatch won't close at all, so it takes some fine tuning.

So it's not the hatch. I dunno what it is, but I know if I press on the metal D ring that the passenger seatbelt passes through it stops. Or if I yank on the seatbelt enough to trigger the locking of the seatbelt it goes away.

Sounds like I may have had the same rattle. Sounded like it came from the passenger seat belt assembly. It went away when the car was properly broken in - 1500 miles or so. I'm assuming you secured the seat belt buckle with the clip and that's not it?

Yeah. I buckled the seat belt it and it was there. It was there when my partner was in the passenger seat.

I'd give it some more miles, I kid you not, my rattle went away on its own. It was an annoying rattle occurring on certain road surfaces. As long as you are within break in (2000 miles) Porsche really should cover anything that doesn't resolve itself by then. You can always argue that you wanted to wait out brake in to see if it's normal. And now you feel it's not...

I suspect it's the seat belt clip vibrating against the side panel! Slide the little black plastic 'keeper' up the belt so when it's retracted the clip is held tightly.

Right. Sounds :)D) like a different rattle.

Good luck finding it, rattles annoy the sh*t out of me.

As a sound engineer, I’m often hearing things that could be dismissed by normal people.

Case in point, two days into my GTS, I was hearing a high pitch rattle like something akin to crystal glasses barely touching. After about an hour of searching, I zeroed in on the arm rest, then locked in on the smoking package lid covering the compartment. Opened it... bingo!
The culprit? The factory cigarette lighter sitting loosely in its metal holder. Removed it, silence. I replaced it with this nicely lit and snug fitting USB power adapter:
TORRAS Full Metal Car Charger

Nice! First thing I put in the car was a USB charger in that spot.

I have a few rattles, but none are serious, and all fade in and out depending on ambient conditions -- a sign that the noises are all caused by either materials expansion (thermoplastics are notorious for this) or something being 'loose' enough to vibrate at a certain NVH frequency. As complex as our cars are, minor noises like that are par for the course as long as they aren't horrible or too numerous.

They bother me at times (as a musician and former music critic, I'm hypersensitive to sounds, too), but that's what the engine and stereo are for. ;)

Yeah, my privacy cover rattles once in a while -- 2018 Cayman, 8000 miles. I've just gotten in the habit of tightening them when I have the rear lid open -- just a quick twist every few days. No biggie to me. I've had other issues....

I identified a rattle you would not think about. The Oil and Water cap did rattle in my car. I had to put strong foam under the cover so that caused some pretty heavy pressure on both caps. rattle gone. Try it out!

Have had a NOS 2019 Cayman S for about 5 weeks and am sorting out rattles after reading various suggestion in this Forum. The trick with the privacy cover, IMO, is 1. Loctite Blue the screws...
they won't come loose and you should still be able to take the cover off when needed. 2. As it still moves when you tweek it a little, I've added some 1/16" dense black foam in the "gap area"
between the privacy cover and the cowling that is attached to the rear hatch frame. Needed a little plastic pry bar to separate these a bit and stuff the foam in there...seems to work pretty well
on a test drive down from Monterey along CA 1 toward Cambria. Foam seems to stay perfectly in place without adhesive. You can buy a 12" x 18" sheet of this stuff at Michaels [a hobby shop
with many outlets at least on the West Coast]. For some reason it's in the kid's section of the store, fyi. Cut a strip about 3/8" to 1/2" wide, 2 pieces needed to fill the full length of the opening [about 28"]. IF it falls down over time, I'll put double sided carpet adhesive on the foam and make a more permanent installation...but I don't think it's going to move.
