Rattles in 2018 Cayman

So in the past week, I have developed one or two rattles that I can't track down. The loudest sounds like it is coming from near the glove box. It may be the cup holders, but holding onto them while driving doesn't eliminate the problem. There is another faint rattle that I haven't been able to pinpoint a location yet. This is annoying since the car is brand new and the nearest dealership is two hours away, so not super convenient to run over there and have them check out the car. Anyone else have rattles they were able to solve themselves?

No my car has over 600 miles and pretty tight no sounds that are out of the ordinary. I would call the dealership and see if they could send a truck and bring it to the dealership or drive it yourself but call your SA and get him or her on it. Porsche has a darn good warranty.....

I have the same thing. More like a light vibration/rattle behind the glovebox. It's not all the time either. Just sometimes, usually after I've driven for a bit. Let me know if you find out what it is. For me, it's random. Happened today after a good 20 min of driving. Not really loud, but noticeable.

Mine too. It's rather irritating when it comes on but the problem is that it is intermittent . When I bring back to the dealer, it just didn't surface !
I had a similar thing. But it wasn't in the glovebox, it just sounded like it. It was the passenger seatbelt rattling! I slid the "keeper" up a bit and it went away.

I localized the rattle in my 718 CS to the plastic housing for the map lights and garage door opener. FYI

This: The passenger seatbelt clasp will rattle like MAD if it's not held by the sliding retainer, either all the way up or all the way down.

I don't have the glovebox rattle, but I do have a rattle coming from the passenger-side storage box behind the passenger seat. It started after I had a tool bag that weighed a few pounds stored there. I'm going to have to find a solution to it before I go on a road trip late next week ... but the takeaway is that those storage areas apparently aren't designed to hold more than a pound or two of stuff. (I keep cleaning rags only in the passenger-side one now.)
I have not had the glovebox rattle since I wrote my post. It happened fairly frequently and now, nothing. It was definitely behind the glovebox and was more of a light vibration than a rattle. Hopefully it was just a cable that was just slightly out of place and eventually wiggled away from what it was vibrating against. Will see if it comes back.
I have an annoying buzz in the drivers door, but only at certain speeds and not very loud so it was not immediately noticed. I'm hesitant to have them pull the door card even if it's under warranty. Seems at times that things can come back worse for wear and it's the only glitch in the car after 3600 miles so I'm still debating taking it in.
I have a rattle from the passenger seat belt area as well. But It's coming from behind the cover and only on certain road surfaces. If it gets worse I'll have them check the screws behind the panel during my 1st oil change.
I do hear that buzzing sound coming from the glove box sometimes.
I also have a sound coming from the back...it sounds like the aluminum pan cover hitting something.
Got over to the dealer today and I think the problem is fixed. I got back after the service department was closed, but the tech logged these notes "front upper strut mounts are clicking, repaired per SY3015--Reworking front spring-strut mount." I can't really hear the problem at highway speeds and it was all interstate all the way home. I should be able to confirm within a few days as I drive around town.

I have an annoying rattle coming from the back somewhere, I wasn’t able to locate it yet.
More rattles than an old black taxi cab

I'm really disappointed with the build of my Cayman 718S. 8 months old, 7k miles and rattles from behind the passenger head rest where the inner panels fit to the body; rattle from the passenger door; faulty rear near side speaker, stop start has a mind of its own; parking sensors light up at odd times even when there's nothing within 20 metres; sat nav volume too quiet with no radio on so I turn it up to 11 to hear it.......but at 11 it's deafening when using bluetooth so I have to change it back down to 7

Great to drive BUT for almost £60k I expect it to work properly
So far the only noises I have heard are the passenger's seat belt occasionally bouncing against the B pillar next to the seat, and since the cold weather has arrived I hear what sounds like the hatch rattling but only every once in a while.

I have had had a few other intermittent quirks, though.

- Parking sensor mysteriously sounding a quick beep when no other cars or obstacles are in range. Again, very rare.
- Several times the audio system behaves strangely. With my iPhone plugged in sound will come from one head unit source (FM, Sirus) with a different source (iTunes or streaming) playing from my iPhone. It's almost as if the connection to my iPhone is not being recognized, yet AirPlay is displayed on the screen???
- Message on the head unit's display "Check the SirusXM antenna", but the signal is clear and uninterrupted.

1 year and 3800 miles. Otherwise, no problems and I'm still Loving It!
I, too, have had the proximity sensor start beeping at me when stopped at a light, but it lasts only a second or two. It only happens very intermittently, and once it was because a pedestrian was walking in front of my car. The only other problem that I have had is that on very rare occasions the backup camera will switch on if I am starting from a stop on an incline. I had the issue with the back hatch rattle but by adjusting the rubber stops on either side of the latch I got that problem to go away.

Regarding the backup camera - are you rolling back at all when starting on the hill? The camera turns on if you just roll backwards - you don't need to be in reverse.
My proximity sensor for the front drivers side went off today at a stop light for no apparent reason. Maybe a bug crawled over it... I've had this happen a couple of times.

I've also had the rear view camera come on at a stop light when someone came up behind me. The rear proximity sensors did not activate, but the camera came on nonetheless. Not sure if this is a "feature" or a glitch.

No rattles, but do have what sounds like an exhaust resonance/vibration at 3K which I'm having checked out on Friday by the dealer.
Had a friend back in the old days that bought/had a 79 Corvette. He must have hit every pothole, curb, speed bump etc., at speed of course. My god was that thing a rattletrap, and he thought he was the best driver in the world. I can only imagine what he might do to a 718. Of course he’d blame the poor quality of Porsches. I’d wonder what parking lot he left the front spoiler in.
The only gremlins I've encountered are with the PCM unit throwing the occasional wobbly. All music playback related & very rare occurrences, so not of major concern. The jukebox decided sometime back to only allow playback of the first album in the listing. The same occurred with thumb drives or memory cards, in that it would play only the first album in any list. But the problem simply rectified itself a few days later. The other thing that occurs occasionally is that you'll select an album but it actually plays something else entirely & that again can be jukebox, memory card or thumb drive. It'll play them all, just not the one you actually want. However this has always rectified itself when the ignition is turned off, the fob removed & then re-inserted again. Very odd, but unless it starts playing up all of the time then it's not something really worth addressing. I might video next time it happens just to show to the dealer & see what they say.
