Replacing Gas Cap

:eek::Hi Everyone,

I am upgrading the gas camp on my 718 Cayman S. I have purchased the Porsche Chrome Cap. Problem is I am having trouble removing the tether from the cover. It is apparently held by a pin. They have told me to push it thru and it will come out. NOT. Anybody got a clue. See photo. Thanks.

Not sure if this applies here, but someone on the Macan forum had a similar issue, and said that the pin was not removable. Instead, they stretched the new cap's tether over the existing pin.

Thank You SoCalS5. Little liquid hand soap on the tether loop, slight pull, off it came. Same in reverse with a little push on. The flange is molded with the hinge portion of the gas cover. The pin everyone is talking about must be the older models.
