In searching here and elsewhere I’ve seen passing references to the ability to retrofit the smokers package to a 718.

In checking Suncoast and other sources, though, the most I can find is a simple ashtray that replaces the empty cup in cars factory built without the smokers package.

Does anyone have part number(s) to retrofit the full smokers package, including cigar lighter and wiring harness, to a 718? I can find such kits for other Porsche models but not the 718. Looking for an extra 12V source plus prefer the more tidy look.

Any advice appreciated!

Thanks for mentioning that part on the Suncoast site. I have the empty "Non Smoker" cubby in mine, and it is sort of ugly and useless. Not large enough to put anything in, and I dont want to have junk in their exposed to view.

The smokers shelf would cover that with a lid, so that I could use it for spare change or something and keep the clean look.

Shame it is so expensive.

When I had my 718 I was interested in a GT4 that did not have the smoking package and aggressively called all the dealerships in Texas and I could not get them to install the smoking package with the lighter/outlet. If you can install on your own that may side step the dealership. I felt so strongly about having that outlet I passed on the GT4. I will not buy a Porsche without it.........
I will continue to monitor this thread out of genuine interest.

I
Why is that? Is it just to have the cig lighter to actually smoke? Or some other power need that you can't get elsewhere?

I am genuinely interested as I have no need to smoke (but do like the clean storage) and already have USB based power in the arm rest/console for the phone.

This quandary is really compelling to me because the Smoker's Package is a no-cost option -- and honestly, it really should be installed with the car as the default standard instead of the open tray because of that extra 12v outlet. The U.S.-spec 718 only has one other 12v outlet, and these days, any car without at least 2-3 of them is under-equipped. The nice clean-looking damped lid is gravy.

I have a USB charger in mine permanently, for when I need to charge anything other than my iPhone in the car ... and believe it or not, my keychain fits in the tray portion. (I'm a minimalist. My house keys consist of house key, mailbox key, tiny thumb drive, and a small St. Michael's medal as an identifier/good-luck charm. I keep the car key separate.)

My GTS has a 12 volt outlet in the passenger foot well and the center armrest. I plug my battery tender into either one. Not sure what I would need with a 3rd outlet. I do wish I had the lid on the tiny storage compartment, but didn't want to get the smoking package just for that.

I optioned the smoking package because I like the clean look of the lid. It was a $90 US option in Australia so not too expensive and I notice its come down in price now to $70.

I didn't expect to need it but like others I bought a low profile dual USB charger and it fits snugly and flush in place of the cigarette lighter. It is great for long drive days when there are lots of devices to charge like GoPro, phones, camera, spare batteries and tablet.

For the glove box USB I sometimes plug in a 4G modem. I haven't discovered the USB port in the trunk but I'm sure I'll find a use for it!

It seems in some cases you can never have enough USB ports!

Could you please take a picture of the outlet in the footwell? There is no such item on UK cars. There is one in the glove box and one in the arm rest. I have the smoking pack, which incidentally is a £38 ($50) option, and have the 12v charger.

This is where my other one is, too.

(EDIT in italics below)

@GTS : Not sure where you're located, but in the U.S. the 12v outlet pictured above is the ONLY one U.S. cars get if the Smoker's Package is not optioned and any sort of Infotainment upgrade is added. We do not get one under the center armrest if Porsche Car Connect and up is part of the car. I'd imagine that in the U.K., the 12v outlet in the glove box is the equivalent of this pictured one; it's just mounted in a different location -- probably runs off of the same exact circuit.

Mike:
I'm a bit confused as our 2018 CGTS has the outlet in the armrest also and I believe that is standard on all. Here's a photo:

We do have the Smoker's Package but I don't think that adds the armrest outlet. Am I wrong on that?

That outlet is omitted on cars with Porsche Car Connect and up, I believe. It's replaced with a USB that's Apple CarPlay enabled.

So, an addendum: U.S. cars with any sort of Infotainment upgrade get one 12v outlet -- the one in the passenger footwell next to and beneath the glove box lid -- unless the Smoker's Package is ordered.

That explains it, I don't have the Porsche Connect option, just the base stereo and navigation. My only USB port is in the glove compartment.

Of course! We have the Bose upgrade but don't have Carplay.
