If you could find a self service/DIY facility that had lifts would you be willing to pay $25/hr for the use of a bay? If you could do some of your own maintenance (for those that are into that) would you be interested in such a facility? If that same facility had an ASE certified mechanic that could assist you with your questions/assistance if needed would you be willing to pay $25/hr? If that facility has basic hand tools in the bay you rented would you find that helpful and value added for the hourly rate? What about if it had Porsche certified oils/fluids - wouldn't that be nice?

We already have DIY garage in the LA area. It is called "Your Dream Garage". Here is their web page:

I think it is a good idea.

I probably wouldn’t do it because I have too much experience, garage space and tools. On the other hand, if I had a bigger job, like swap out and IMS bearing on a 986 I might. But I like to take my time so I would be concerned about how long my car would be sitting there taking up space.

When I was at university there was a place that did this for bikes. They had tools and expertise. I liked the idea but still never used them. Don’t know what happened to them.

I vote...give it a try ( but probably not going to get rich)

I'd use a service like this for putting on a different exhaust or changing brakes. Those types of simple jobs are so much easier with a lift. But I'm not mechanically inclined enough to tackle anything in the engine bay on these cars - I'll leave that to the pros.

Gearhead Garage does not have an ASE certified mechanic, is not open on Sunday and only has 4 lifts and their rates are more than $25/hr. DIY Auto repair shops in Denver charges $40/hr and also only has 4 lifts. Doesn't seem like 4 lifts are enough to accomodate hundreds/thousands of DIYer's. Since most people work during the week it would be important to be open on Sunday's in order to take care of owners who work on their cars on the weekend (Sat & Sun).
