New 718 owner. I know, read the manual. We were wondering what the first service/oil change costs?????
That's not in the manual.
It has to be done in the first year or at 10k miles????
I usually do my own oil changes/service, does that void the warranty????

Bill, I have owned four new Porsches, '11 Cayman S, '15 Cayman, '16 Macan S (wife's), and now a '17 Cayman 718S. I always change my own oil, filters, rotate tires, etc. Just keep your receipts, showing the kind of oil and filters, etc. I even did my own recall, when a Clutch Switch on the '15 was on recall--didn't have time to take it to the dealership, so I bought the part online ($45) and installed it myself. So I don't know what the dealers charge for services, since I do it myself, when I can.
I have paid anywhere from $180 to $220 for an oil change at two different dealerships. I also change my own oil/filter between dealer changes. That is, I change my oil/filter at 5K, 15K, 25K, etc and the dealer does it at 10K, 20K, 30K, etc. When I do the change it costs about $60.
I recently paid $320 for an oil change on our Panamera GTS. Not sure what I will be charged for the Boxster but I would think a bit less with a smaller engine. It seems that our dealer is somewhat reasonable compared to others--from what I have read on other forums.
Does the 718 have the oil filter in the can like my 2000 Boxster S? Are the torque specs the same?
The oil filter is in a "can" on the 718. It is harder to get to then my prevous 987.2 (2012) Boxster.

How do you reset the oil change interval light? There is another thread on this, and I did not see an answer.
If you bought a new 2018 Porsche 718, the first oil change is "free" (built into the cost of the vehicle).

After that, you can expect to pay roughly $300 to $400 for an oil change at the dealer (which usually includes a few other, minor services such as tire rotation, etc). Or expect to pay roughly half that at independent shops.

Here's a video of the reset process. I have not tried this but some of my friends at the local PCA said it sounds correct.

And by the way, I would strongly advise you join your local PCA since it will really help you find decent local independent shops for service along with decent discounts on parts and service. I'm not personally a "joiner" to groups like this, but my local PCA has been excellent. Very member-centric.

I wonder how someone found all the commands shown in the video. It's pretty intricate. I usually do my own oil changes, and maintenance. I have less time lately for bigger projects, so a good independent shop would be of value.

Sounds like a good idea joining PCA. Thanks for the tip.

Posters,

Please note that there are several other lengthy threads on the oil-change cost for 718s in the Oils, Fluids, Fuel, Additives And Lubrications subforum. It would benefit all members if new members would look for an answer first before asking a question.

I'll leave this thread here for now, but I very well may merge this with one of those other threads at a later date.

Thank you, and welcome.
