For those who might be interested in the SmartTOP for increased automation and remote operation of the convertible top, I just had it installed in my new Boxster GTS and it works like a charm. I'm using it only for the most basic of functions, i..e., using the remote to open and close the convertible top (and the windows along with it), and allowing the console buttons to open and close the the convertible top with one touch-and-release instead of having to hold the button. It can additionally be programmed to do more, including opening and closing the windows independently of the top and using the automatic door entry to operate the convertible top. But there's only so much I can remember!

I had my dealer do it and they charged me for a couple of hours at Porsche rates (it involved installation under the driver's seat and they removed the seat to do a clean job on the wiring and making the USB connection accessible after installation). A lot, I know, but I like the work they do and the way I'm treated there.
