Hi all. I ordered the SmartTop module for $312 and it will be arriving Friday. Looking forward to the added features...I'll let you know what I think after the install.
As a happy customer of this mod, I'm sure you'll love it! Make sure you read the instructions carefully and double check your work for a simple pain free install.

That was the 2nd mod to my car and was done on the 1st day of ownership. Did it myself w/ pretty basic tools. Really wasn't tough. LOVE the added functionality. I've evangelized this on a couple other threads, but the "one touch" feature to raise and lower the roof is by far my favorite feature. My BS is a manual. I can hit the button and drive off without thinking about it (while using my right hand to shift). Great product.

I got one of the first 718 Boxsters sold in CA. I had Smart Top on my 981 and called the company to see if they had one for the 718. They had not been able to install it on a 718 and test it. Their engineer came from Las Vegas to San Diego and used my car as a test car. He said there were a few software changes he had to make from the 981 version and I have now had it since Aug 2016 and put the top down almost every day and have not had any trouble. I normally enter the car with the top down because as approaching it I hit unlock on the remote 3 times and by the time I get to the car the top is down and I just step in instead of having to crawl in. Just before shutting off the car with the top down I hit the close button on the console shut off the car and get out as the top is closing. I thus always exit the car with the top down which makes it a lot easier to get out and after I exit it finishes closing and I hit the lock button. You do not have to hold the open or close button on the console to get full operation of the top just move the switch and the full operation takes effect. If you want to stop it midway for some reason, just hit the switch again and it will stop. For me it is the best option I have on the car.

Was pretty easy to do myself. The instructions were straight forward. Don't think I needed tools beyond a pair of pliers as I recall. Just FYI. At the rates dealers charge, I'd find an independent anyway.
Thanks

I will order it soon and try it myself, I saw an older video and think it's only 4 wires.

I installed the Smarttop module On my BGTS last week after the local dealer declined installation because it was not an OEM product. It was easy if you follow the instruction, exactly. I did not have to remove the seat. It works as advertised. Make sure the harness that connect to the module has 6 wires. Initially, I received one with 4 wires.

Interesting, so H1 only came with 4 wires?

I removed mine from my 981 just before I sold it after I confirmed that it was also compatible with the 718 (982) cars... it is easily one of the more rewarding mods I have ever done!

I love my SmartTop! Installed it myself. It was not difficult to install other than the very cramped workspace under the seat. Love the one-touch up and down!
