Well, I have installed the performance exhaust. Came very well packaged. Took about 14 days from time of order but that was because shipping issues with the virus...not Souls fault. Beautiful system. Did not come with instructions so I was a little taken back by that. Removing old exhaust was simple. The new one came with lots of little parts but no instructions of how it went together. They were great at getting me on the phone and getting questions answered just took extra time. Took my time on install. Got to the tips and went to put on and had some real issues. The clamps they sent were not correct and the basically fell apart as I was tightening. I called that evening and talked to my expert and they overnighted me a new set with more robust clamps. These went on smooth with no issue.

Overall - beautiful pipes. Fit very well. Install was good once I understood and chased down some answers (instruction vid or manual that matches this particular exhaust would be expected). Excellent customer service...top notch.

As for the sound - so far I like it. It is much deeper growl. My 15 yr old said finally sounds good (he is used to my 911s with NA motors and fabspeed exhausts). It sounds great when on throttle and did make the throttle more responsive. It doesn't drone and is civil under normal load but really opens up the car and noise when on the gas. Although minus mufflers I am surprised it isnt louder and doesn't drone. My neighbor did text me and said I woke his daughter up from her nap. Much more pops and bangs!

If you are looking for more noise, pops, downshift bangs, without drone...this - so far (5 miles in) seems to be a great set up! I will be looking into cat downpipe next time I do something but this sounds really good...

Next up is a 93 octane APR tune!

Would love to hear your new Soul exhaust Luke718. Can you post a clip of the new sound?
I've been considering what exhaust would be a good upgrade for a nice sound without being too obnoxious.
Will do in the next day or so

Do you need to do a tune once you install an aftermarket exhaust? I have the base exhaust and compared to this Maserati, my car sounds, well not to hot. Does a downpipe make things sound even better?

Cat back does not require a tune. If you add a downpipe you will need a tune. We're happy to help with off the shelf tunes or custom Pro-Tunes for your 718.

We have special pricing when you purchase a Soul exhaust and tune with us :D

@[email protected] can please explain why exactly I need the pro-tune for custom downpipe? After I've installed mine I've checked performance with COBB Stage 1 v2.00 and there is zero change comparing to what I had before. I'd like to understand it more from the pro-tuning side. I've read a little bit here COBB Protune Guide and now confused. It says downpipe is not worth of Stage 2 tune?.. "We have found that additional exhaust components do not markedly improve the pumping efficiency of the 718 platform. " but how to get the promised difference?

Custom downpipe being the Test Pipe or CAT delete pipe is what he's referring to. If you do the 200cel high flow cat you will not need a tune.

I've Done in the following order:
  1. High flow downpipe with 200cell cat (notable difference in sound, but marginal difference in Low to Mid range power, but felt like better delivery of power)
  2. APR Stage 1 with TP File (Like a completely different car in the power department and even more exhaust noise with the above #1... this is a beast of a car)
  3. Installed BCM Filter (No change in power but vastly increased intake suction sound and felt better in the Mid range and I think the turbo was louder)
  4. Removed the 200cel High Flow CAT and installed the Test Pipe (straight pipe) (She whistles like crazy now, IMO a slight loss in lower end, but feels stronger when it comes on and pulls longer before it flattens out)
I feel that the exhaust changes were more for my manhood in the sound department, and I believe the statement that the exhaust is not where we will see gains is true. I had a couple dragy runs with the CAT vs. Test Pipe and on average I'd say that I reduced .15 tents in the quarter with the Test Pipe (catless) fitted. Not a marked improvement in my book since that amount can be chalked up to a good vs. bad launch. Best time is 11.78 @ 118 on a 2017 Cayman S with APR Stage 1, BCM and no CAT. Unfortunately the app crashed and deleted that Video, but the one a couple weeks prior I had uploaded to my youtube with a 11.83 @ 116. I know there's more there, my TC light is active through the first three gears. If I had good DA and better tires I believe there's a solid 11.5 in it.

Thank you for sharing the experience. Everything makes total sense including number. It is hot here these days and I still can do my ~12s @ 116mph (it is fine diff, my weight is more than regular man) when get good traction on start.

And I expected minimal improvement but now can’t measure it. And you know... not measured means is not proved :)

Probably catless is my next option for what I need :) but let’s see what I get after protune.

If you're running the 200 cell cat you're fine without custom tuning, although custom tuning for your available fuel grade and conditions it always beneficial if you want to get the most out of your 718.

I did this to my 2017 Boxster (non-S and no PSE) - and I can't agree more - it SOUNDS WONDERFUL....love the Soul Performance !!

Thanks for the answer.

But I think my question was more about: should I notice any change in the car acceleration, e.g. 62-125mph (100...200 km/h) just after installing the downpipe or I need some extra tune to make it work? Why I'm asking is just because I did not notice any performance boost. Maybe it is just a small and measured by a few hp and it is weird to measure on a road with Dragy but I'd like to know your expert thoughts.

IMO the only spot there's gains with exhaust is in the mid-range power and thats nearly undetectable to mere mortals like us. BUT IT SOUNDS BADA$$!!!
