I wanted to have the ability to control whether the Soundaktor is on or off while driving so came up with the idea of replacing the 7.5 amp fuse in the right trunk fusebox Row B #10 with a wireless receiver and relay. Although my 718 Cayman GTS is currently in winter storage I've bench tested it, as well as tested it in the car. It works like a charm. I can now try out 4 different sound modes in real time while driving. I'll provide a better update in the spring when I get it out on the road.

1. PSE off, Soundaktor off
2. PSE on, Soundaktor off
3. PSE off, Soundatktor on
4. PSE on, Soundaktor on

The parts shown cost less than $25 CDN.

Nice idea. For me, I ran it PSE Open and Closed and then immediately took it back out with the fuse out and did the same runs. I liked it out in both cases so easy call. But, some may want the option.

Man. If someone started making a plug-and-play production version of this for Porsches ... and VWs ... and Audis ...

... just start printing your own money.
@CANUCK GTS: Might be worth reaching out to someone like T-Design for, eh? Just throwing that out there ...

not so sure about that. i'm willing to wager that the overwhelming majority of modern porsche owners don't even know it's there and deactivating it is as hard as pulling a single fuse if they do.

nice thought though and i hope it comes true!

I'll probably make a decision one way or another down the road whether I want to permanently disable the Soundaktor or keep it connected. The idea behind the wireless control was to compare the different sounds while driving,.. figuring that subtle differences may be hard to discern otherwise.

Anyways we're in the depths of winter here but looking forward to that first spring drive to check it out.

I love the ingenuity of the members on this forum

have to say I much prefer the car with the fuse pulled out - not seen from too many who have put the fuse back to restore the "fake noise"

This is an absolute genius idea. Loving the creativity brother. Wouldn’t trust myself but fair play for giving it a go. ?????

It's easy to remove the fuse on the passenger side. Just a little tight for fingers but you can use a fuse puller or small pliers for better grip. As far as I know it's the same fuse for the GTS and S. There's some good discussion from Viffermikes thread on this.

Once I hit the road in the spring I'll chime in on the sound differences.
