I've noticed the volume of a call coming in over bluetooth is unbearably loud - many decibels louder the radio is playing at the time. Is there a way to set the call volume to automatically match or at least be comparable to the level the radio is playing when the call comes in. As it stands, I have to quickly turn down the volume whenever a call comes in or whenever Google Maps interrupts the radio with directions.

Okay. I've got a different version of the same problem. The voice guidance in the Nav is way to low. But when I follow the menu path referenced by GregW, the Nav voice guidance, along with many other selections, is grayed out and unavailable. I'm totally stuck. Can't hear the Nav guidance.

Third - have you tried the instructions suggested by GregW? Did it work? Was the selection grayed out and unavailable?
I followed the directions, but like you, the Bluetooth Volume selection is grayed out. Engine running or engine off/ignition on, the result was the same. I fear we need level four tech support for this one!

Well, this misery loves company. I'll try to swing by the dealer early next week. But whichever one of us breaks through first, let's post up. Good luck.

I'll see if I can find out too. Will post. Perhaps it's a configuration item for Burmester systems only? Or, it may be a menu item included for a future firmware upgrade.

Nope. I haven't had a recent look but I distinctly remember increasing the volume for phone and nav. above what the dealer had set.

Good luck guys.

After a month with PCM, I can't help but give this user interface a D, or a 1 on a scale of 1 to 10. My bluetooth volume issue is but one reason why I feel this way. Good thing it's attached to a Porsche, or I'd be looking forward to my next trade.

I wish I had some better news. Talked to my SA. He checked the (allegedly identical) unit in his Macan. It operated (or, more aptly, failed to operate) in the same fashion. The conclusion is that there is nothing wrong, no incorrect settings. This is a feature. We can only adjust the volume during navigation by coupling it to the radio. I'm sure this would be bad enough in a Cayman, but in a Boxster with the top down, you would need to have music blaring to hear anything.

I may have said this before, and if I did, I don't remember what it was about - but this is absolutely incomprehensible to me. This is ridiculous; stupid. Insultingly so.

I read with interest that JD Power has come out with some ratings on initial quality, and I believe Porsche was fourth overall, second in the luxury segment, behind some Asian manufacturers. But what really caught my eye was that infotainment systems were the focal point of complaints nowadays.

It's the market, I know. But how the market can demand this kind of crap in their cars, where it doesn't really belong, and then still clamor for it when it doesn't work, is another thing that I'll never be able to understand.

I hope that I don't have the complete story yet. I'd love it for people to post about how their systems work, and see if we can determine any common denominators (country, trim level, date of manufacture, etc.) among any who are able to adjust to volume of their navigation systems.

And let me guess. If I figure out how to involve my phone, with Carplay and Connect+, in navigation - I'll bet we don't get voice prompts at all, or something equally moronic. And the manufacturers will just keep jingling the car keys in front of these infants.

Hooked up Apple Carplay and selected maps. No map appeared. My destinations were all being calculated, and never completed the calculations. When I tried to load and run one of my destinations, I got a message about there not being an internet connection.

Do I need an internet connection to run Apple Maps in Carplay?

I also noticed that while I have Google Maps on my phone, it does not appear on the Carplay phone screen.

Can I not access Google Maps?

And to generalize my question - is there any way I can run a fully functioning navigation system on my new 2018 Porsche, in which I specified some $4000 of infotainment options?

Many thanks.

Okay; solved the no maps/no internet problem. Cellular was de-selected for Maps on my phone. Now I have maps in Maps. Will have to test function in the car later.
