I don't think there's really any benefit over stock lines that are in good shape. We run stainless lines with big brake kits (they come with them) and with major brake upgrades since the labor is minimal and new lines aren't a bad idea for a critical safety system.

While not on my 718, I did the swap to SS lines and SRF fluid on my BMW 2 series in an attempt to get more feel out of the brake pedal. I felt little to no improvement over the rubber lines.

I had front and back installed when they did the last brake flush. Peddle seemed firmer and more feel, but that could have just been the brake flush or wishful thinking.

Consensus I gathered before deciding to do it was it wouldn't make much difference for street driving.

I just wanted to mod something and it's a pretty cheap mod. Cost me $150 total (dealer installed for free).

This is the perfect series of posts to answer most of my questions. Most! ;-) I do intend to continue to track my Cayman two weekends a year. Next service in December I'm planning on having a high performance air filter (BMC or K&N) installed and I'm also considering, at some point, to then do a Cobb stage 1 tune simply for the track experience. For as little as I plan to track, I do not wish to go with bigger front brakes and I'm hoping that the steel-reinforced brake hoses would suffice if I add another 40-50 hp on track days through the tune. Would this suffice?
